Principal’s Report
It has been a very busy past two weeks for teachers at the school and I extend my thanks for their absolute commitment to their workplace, their colleagues and most importantly of all, to all the students they support.
Parent teacher interviews were conducted last week and I would like to use this opportunity as a timely reminder for those parents/guardians who have yet to meet with their daughter’s/son’s teacher that you can still request a personal meeting.
This week we have celebrated NAIDOC week with a range of cultural activities for our students, including the set-up of our wonderful Aboriginal Museum celebrating Aboriginal culture through an array of artefacts. Thank you so much Dearne, Dave, Stan, Brett and Heather for setting up and constructing a wonderful viewing space and organising all the valuable activities in our outdoor learning spaces.
Today we have hosted Moonah Primary School Year 6 students who have joined in with our Year 6 classes, visiting our museum, cooking in the bush kitchen and playing Aboriginal football and soccer with a stuffed possum skin. This visit is becoming a regular event and we embrace the opportunity to engage in inter-schools activities.
Next week will be characterised by one of the prime events in the schools’ calendar - our Year 6 play, The Wizard of Oz. There are still tickets available from our office:

Kath’s Spot
This week has been quite a week of chatting with lots of people about anxieties. Whether it be us, our best mate, our child or family member, staying chatty helps us to process all that anxieties may bring.
Sometimes for those walking beside others with anxieties it is hard for them to understand “how can entering a group be so worrying?” or “how can walking in a room cause so much stress?”. Some people will try saying “pull yourself together”, but as I ask questions to learn from those who are walking this journey, most say comments such as this are not real helpful, rather just being there beside them and helping them to get through each day is a blessing.
In fact asking questions along the way that help to identify what a true picture of reality may look like, can help amongst all the thoughts of worry and concern, asking “Do you think that’s accurate?” Positive affirmations and celebrating little wins along the way, also help this journey “You really pushed through this morning and were able to put your bag in your bag box despite feeling nervous about it, well done! Let’s celebrate together”.
Should you need to chat or work out some next steps forward, please feel free to come in and chat with any senior staff, Cindy our Social Worker or myself. Remember Stay Chatty!
Many Blessings
Kath Dolliver

Class in Focus – Year 1/2C
In 1/2C, we love exploring the idea of “place”. In Term 1 we learnt about the different ways our world is divided into continents and oceans, all with their own special features. This term, we have been exploring our own special place – our Bush Classroom, Outdoor Learning Area. The children have enjoyed investigating the area and getting to know the plants and animals, as well as building with the materials they find there. We have looked at the old bush heritage through traditional songs and enjoyed a great campfire sing-a-long with Dave, the Year 6 guitarists and Oscar’s dad Dominic on his banjo. This week we have been reflecting on the Aboriginal heritage and celebrating Tasmanian Aboriginal culture.
Here is what some of our students had to say about the Bush Classroom:
“In the Bush Classroom, I really liked exploring the nature.” Riley
“In the bush, I really liked going exploring.” Sam
“In the Bush Classroom, I really liked the fire.” Eve
“In the Bush Classroom, I really liked listening to the music.” Abigail

School Fair
Call for Donations!
This year Snug Primary School will once again be holding their biannual School Fair.
In preparation for this we are currently seeking donations from our community to assist us with prizes for our raffle.
Proceeds from our raffle will go towards much needed equipment and resources throughout the school as well as the continued development of our playground and will support the continuation of our kitchen garden program.
If you or someone you know would like make a donation of products or services that can be used in our upcoming raffle, please contact the school on 62679230 or drop your donation into the school office.
Please note: Due to a lack of storage, no preloved items will be accepted at this time. A request will be placed in the newsletter and on Facebook closer to the fair date for women’s and children’s clothing, books and toys that can be used on the second hand stall at the fair.
