Principal’s Report
Hello,
What a fantastic week we have all had. All specialist programs are now up and running and we are delighted to reintroduce Choir to our additional programs. This week we heard across the school the booming introduction of our Drumming program. Due to the popularity of this program we will now be offering this fortnightly, to years 3, 4 and 5/6 students. Participants in this program are welcome to bring their own ear plugs to use whilst drumming as this can be very loud but also so exhilarating for the students involved.
Be prepared for some practising at home! Pots, pan and buckets are all suitable.
We are excited to be again participating in the Jump Rope for Heart Program. Students will be encouraged to be active to promote heart health throughout the term with daily skipping. At the end of term we will have an active day that students will participate in skipping activities. Registering and raising money online is optional but we ask that all students participate on the day and Mr Lodge will be incorporating this into his regular PE Program. We look forward to seeing the skipping skills develop over the next few weeks.
Our attendance is already looking positive and we ask that families make a considerable effort in arriving before the bell each day. Arriving between the 8.30am to 8.40am timeslot reduces anxiety in students as they come in prepared and feel organised. Arriving before the bell also allows students to make social connections with not just their teacher but also students from across other classes. Losing learning time can have long term effects on students learning as demonstrated in the graph below.
If you have difficulties at anytime getting your child to school we have a number of support staff who can assist. Pop in and have a chat.
This year we are pleased to have back on board,
Clare Laning - School Psychologist (Tuesdays)
Sam Dobson - Social Worker (Monday and Thursday, fortnightly)
Jess Rooke - Speech and Language Pathologist (Monday and Thursday, fortnightly)
Joss Patmore – School Nurse (Tuesday)
If you find that your child is experiencing difficulties throughout the year our professional support team are able to assist. Please contact the school office for assistance with the referral process.
Kind Regards,
Loretta Woolley

New starts always bring a stack of different emotions don’t they. From excitement, sometimes nervous energy or anxiety, and even joy!
As I popped in this week to take some photos of our new little Kinder students I was struck by all of these emotions and I guess so much more too!! And gee it seems like so long ago since Tom our eldest started Kinder at Snug Primary. In fact this year would be probably 16 years ago I think, and wow that has gone quick!
All the little people seemed to have so much fun, and were so excited for all the options of what there was to play with. But there were also little moments or realising that it would be a while before Mum or Dad would return back to pick them up again, fortunately those moments were recognised and then easily moved on from especially with a great book to read together!
I believe it is always good to recognise what we are feeling and at Snug Primary we teach our students to recognise their emotions through the Zones of Regulation. They help us to know what we are feeling when, and can help us to move back into the green zone where we are happy and ready to learn. I encourage you to chat more with your children about the Zones and about emotions and feelings with your children, because the more they can recognise what they are feeling in the moment, the more that can understand their behaviour and how it all works too.
Yay to first week of kinder!! Welcome to all of our new families, I hope to meet you all over the coming weeks.
Many Blessings

Below is the Garden Timetable for February, all classes start at 2.00pm. We would love to have some parent volunteers particularly for the garden. This year the garden lessons will be a little different as each class will be responsible for two garden beds. This will allow classes to plan the produce that will be planted and learn more about companion and seasonal planting. These lessons always are more effective with adult assistance.
A reminder that volunteers will need a Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP). Details are here if you need to apply:
