Principal’s Report
Dear Families,
Plenty has been happening at Snug in the past fortnight. There have been a number of fantastic additions to the school, and we’ve enjoyed having you back, in the school with us, as we look forward positively in 2021.
Bike Track
Our bike track is now up and running. It has proven to be exceptionally popular, with students from Prep to Year 6 enjoying it, and challenging themselves based on their own personal level of confidence and ability. We had members of the Conningham Mountain Bike club come down to the school and chat to students about safety, and making sure helmets, brakes, seats and tyres were appropriate and in good working order. Can we also ask you to regularly check your child’s bike and helmet if they plan to use the track to ensure that when they do, they remain safe. We also recommend students ride with bike gloves in the event they do come of on the gravel track. Thanks to the School Association for their work in making the track happen.
Loose Parts Play
Also a huge hit is our new loose parts play playground. Last week, we had two truckloads of sand delivered to add to the playground, and students have been thriving by creating, digging, making and shaping – all part of building creative, imaginative and happy learners.
Eat Meet and Greet
It was wonderful to see so many of you at our Eat Meet and Greet this week. After last year, and our forced isolation, it was just wonderful to have so many of you on site, enjoying our school, and building our community.
Meeting with teachers and the school
If you did not have the chance to come to the Eat Meet and Greet, but would like to touch base with the classroom teacher, or senior staff, we encourage you to make contact to discuss any issues relevant to your child. We value the opportunity to work together with you to support your child to be their very best at Snug Primary.
Gym Sessions
The community gym sessions which are running across the week are continuing to be very popular. Our gym is a fantastic facility, and it is heartening to see it being used by our community, to meet, stay fit and enjoy each others’ company. If you’ve been tossing up the idea of getting back into shape, why not come down? Session times are below:
School Association
A reminder that the School Association has its AGM on Tuesday 16th March at 6:30pm in the staffroom. The Snug Primary School Association has vacancies for parent representatives and is seeking nominations for the 2021 school year. The role of the School Association is to contribute in developing a set of beliefs, values and priorities for the school, and by providing advice and recommendations to the Principal about the general operations and management of the school. If you are interested in standing for the association, nomination forms have been sent home, or are available from the office. Please complete and hand back to the office by Friday 12th March. Contact me if you require more information.
Enjoy your long weekend, we look forward to seeing you all back on Tuesday. The weather is looking good for our swimming carnival, don’t forget bathers and towel, school hat and warm coat, recess, lunch snacks and water.
Kind Regards,
Blair Curtis
Principal
Kath’s Spot
It was so wonderful to see so many students, parents and carers at our Eat Meet and Greet night on Wednesday. I was left with the feeling that ‘this is how learning works best, when school and families work together’.
This week the students have been working on the habit ‘We do what we are asked; First time, Every time’. What a life skill to learn!!
Imagine if your child got in such a habit of doing this at school, that they started just doing it every time at home too? Imagine saying “Please go and get dressed for school”.... and them going and doing it. Or “Please go and put your school bag in your bedroom” and them doing it straight away....imagine that!!
If we can be working at home on the things the students are learning at school, it can not only help our children to develop skills that their future employers will be eternally grateful for, but it will help us at home too! Sometimes just prompting them with “remember what you talked about at school - first time every time”, then I believe positive actions and practices will happen.
Together we can work to help your children to become wonderful valuable members of our community, let’s do this together.
Many Blessings

Class In Focus – Year 6
The Blue Lagoon Adventure Camp in Dodges Ferry was a fantastic experience for the Year 6 students who attended camp last week.
Three days and 2 nights involved initiative building tasks, abseiling, rock climbing, surfing and wheelchair sports. Not to mention the Big Dipper swing, 30m slide, in-ground trampoline and Gaga-ball pit.
What an opportunity for our Year 6 staff and students to come together; building teamwork, developing trust in one another as fellow peers and learners and establishing strong foundations for the year ahead.
Congratulations Year 6 and thank you to all staff involved in giving up their time for camp.

School Banking
Tuesday is school banking day. Please remember to write your student number on the deposit slips. Replacement Dollarmite wallets are available from the office.
School Banking Handbook
New Bankers are very welcome – for every new banker, the school receives a $5.00 commission and then 5% of every deposit made thereafter. Just head to any Commonwealth Bank with some ID for yourself and your child (a drivers licence and birth certificate, for example) and ask to open a Youthsaver Account for School Banking. You’ll be given a deposit book and Dollarmites wallet on the spot and will be able to begin banking the next business day - it’s that easy!
Rewards Program: For every deposit your child makes, they will receive a silver Dollarmite token. Once they have received 10 tokens then will then receive a gold Dollarmite token which they can redeem for an exclusive Dollarmite reward item.
