Principal’s Report
Hi families,
Today, we are celebrating Tasmania’s indigenous history, with a NAIDOC assembly. Our school is proud to recognise and value Tasmania’s indigenous past, present and future. Always was, Always Will Be was the theme of this year’s NAIDOC celebrations and is recognition of the primary role indigenous people have played in shaping Australia’s story for more than 60,000 years.
End of year early childhood performances
By now, early years families should have been contacted by classroom teachers about their individual end of year performances. This is in lieu of an early years assembly, a decision we made due to the current Covid situation.
Sun Smart, Warmer Weather
Just a reminder to families to ensure your child is coming to school prepared for the warmer weather. Please apply sun lotion to your child/ren in the morning, ensure they always have their school hat and plenty of water in their drink bottles.
Snug CARES
One of the things our school is well known for is our kind, welcoming community, which starts with our Snug CARES values. We are thankful to our staff, students and community for looking after and supporting each other, and we are grateful to everyone in our community for continuing to play their part in making Snug Primary the wonderful school it is.
Kind Regards,
Blair Curtis
Principal
Kath’s Spot
I was recently scrolling through my feed and saw this funny caption:
“Me to child: Never ever lie… Also me: I just called the park and unfortunately they’re closed today” - it made me have a little chuckle. Then it made me think, despite how funny it is, it is accurate that often we can all say things that might not be extreme as this, but we are role modelling what our values are. Have you ever said “I’ll be there in a sec”? Or maybe “sure, we can do that soon”? knowing too well that you will not have time for it, or you will be awhile.
It has challenged me to watch my words, being conscious of what I say in every day moments. If I am telling my family “our family values are that we care for others and tell the truth”, yet I’m showing my children it’s okay to lie about certain things, I’m showing them that caring for others and telling the truth is an ideal, not an actual value.
Here at Snug, this is why we celebrate our Snug CARES Values of Community, Acceptance, Respect, Excellence and Safety. Even as big people, the way to talk to others and how we treat others is a reflection of our values. Let’s make good decisions hey, and lets make an effort to watch our words and actions, and reflect on whether we are representing the values we feel is important.

Class in Focus – Kinder B
As part of our Community Inquiry, Kinder B have learned about the different people in our community and what they do. We then talked about what we would like to be when we grow up and how we could help our community. We created a collage person using cardboard and fabrics to show what we would look like and then wrote a list of things we would need to do our job.
