Principal's Report
Dear Families,
This week has been a flurry of learning activities. Our NAIDOC Week Activities, Cultural performance, Growing Up Program and Grade 4 play have been enjoyed by our students and staff alike.
Many thanks go to our local Aboriginal Elder, Billy Bowman for working with Mr Dave Groves and students to create a beautiful mural depicting the Whale Story. This local story describes the carving out of the Snug River by a mother and calf and reminds us of the importance of family, connection and community.
Our mural is one of several physical improvements we have made in the school recently. Our new outdoor carpet around Grade 1, kitchen garden fencing and new drinking fountain provide a safe, healthy and attractive environment in which our students can learn.
Have a wonderful break and we look forward to seeing you all back again in Term 3.

Kath's Spot
Lately I have been spending some time listening to 'The Families Podcasts' by Sallie Hammond. Sallie is a close family friend who lives in Western Sydney and received Volunteer of the Year, for Western Sydney last year. She is a mother of four with the youngest two being twins.
One of her podcasts is titled 'The Funniest Minute' and it just made me smile. It reminded me that children are sure to remember the funny moments close to their hearts. She shares a story of their family playing 'stacks on' in the lounge room together and young Ruby remembered this as the 'Funniest Minute' in their house.
Sally is the founder of 'The Families' course, with Steve Biddulph being an ambassador for the course. Sally is an amazing mum and she has a wealth of good tips and treasures, along with lots of funny stories. I have had many great laughs with Sal along the way.
I remember her sharing with me this anecdote one day. The twins were watching her pluck her eyebrows and Jonah asked "why are you doing that?", to which she responded "to make me look beautiful". He stood still and watched and then said "Mum, it's not working!"
I wonder, if you asked your children what the funniest minute has been in your house, what do you think they would say? I'm off to ask my boys the same question.
Many blessings,
Kath Dolliver

Election Day Cake Stall (Sat) & Bunnings BBQ (Sun)
These two fundraisers are happening this weekend and we're hoping they'll be a huge success! Thank you so much to those parents and staff who have worked together to make these happen and to Jo Malone especially for the time and effort she has given in organising and running these. We do have enough helpers at this stage, but please feel free to swing by to either or both events to drop off a cake or buy a snag – all proceeds come straight back to our fantastic school. We look forward to seeing you there!
Calling all trades…..
Snug Primary is currently looking at our buildings and grounds for minor and major works over the next few years. We will be actively supporting local business and our community.
We are compiling a register of businesses and tradespeople with links to our school, so we can connect our building needs to them.
If you would like to be considered for upcoming works, please leave your business details with Jo in the office.
Drama News
Please be reminded that photos from the Grade 4 team's performances of "Paddington" and "Winnie the Pooh" on Wednesday will be available to order from the school office in the first week of Term 3 for $1.00 each.
Prep Visit To Snug Village
Recently the children in the Prep classes visited the residents of Snug Village. This is a great experience for both the kids and the residents in developing their relationship, language and fine motor skills. We ALL look forward to visiting them! Georgie Chilcott and Prep Team.

Rock Climbing
Leyroy and Floyd Harley both competed in the Lead Rock Climbing Oceania Championships in Sydney this past week. Leyroy came third in the finals for his age group and Floyd came first in his age group final. Congratulations boys!
Chess at Snug
Chess Report by Vincent Pollard
The Snug Chess Team would greatly appreciate the opportunity to be able to sharpen their chess skills however are in need of an enthusiastic "Chess Coach"! If you, or if you know of somebody in the community who is passionate about chess and can spare an hour of a lunch time maybe once a week or fortnight and would be keen to share with the students some chess strategies, please contact the school office. The school has chess boards available for use. As with all school volunteers a "Working with Vulnerable People" registration is required.

Kingborough Lions United Football Club Holiday Clinic and Skills Acquisition Program
Over the July School Holidays Kingborough Lions United Football Club are running lots of fun activities for juniors. There are five holiday clinics on offer. These clinics are focussed on having fun while developing football skills - overseen by accredited coaches and Lions NPL/SCW players these sessions will provide some much needed football activity over the break. We welcome all players but they need to be registered with a club or school - you do not need to sign up for all clinics. Additionally, in Term 3 we will be running the next SAP (Skills Acquisition Program) and Discovery Program. These programs aid in the development of young players and are a pivotal part of the club's strategic plan to produce footballers of the future.
