Principal’s Report
Dear Families,
At School Association this week, discussion was initiated about updating our policy regarding use of Digital Technologies at Snug Primary School. We are looking ahead to the future possibilities for online, application and digital resources and need to ensure we have structures and process in place to allow learning to occur in a safe way. I have included in this newsletter the DoE policies regarding this and the current school User Agreements that are due for update. Please take the time to review these and we welcome your feedback at our next meeting on Tuesday 19th July at 7.00pm.
Also at out next meeting Mrs Angela Bird Principal at Kingston High School will be in attendance to speak about her school and enrolments for 2017. All parents are warmly invited to attend.
Today you would have received your child’s report outlining their progression against the Australian Curriculum and their effort and behaviour against the Snug CARES values. I would like to take the opportunity to thank teachers for their time and efforts with these and we look forward to discussing these at Parent Teacher interviews in the coming week.

Kath’s Spot
Many of you would know that I have spent the past 19 years involved with the organisation Fusion. Fusion is an International Youth and Community Christian Organisation, who has the tag line 'Together with Hope'. It really is an organisation that does all it can to try work with the community to bring hope.
I have volunteered my time for Fusion, and have had many adventures both nationally and internationally that I never would have expected or been involved in, if it had not been for my work with Fusion. Personally I have grown, through the opportunities that I have been given, and now I stand with broader shoulders and a whole rack of experience in many fields as a result of being given tasks and opportunities to fulfil. These opportunities were sometimes far more challenging that I could have ever expected, but they have made me a better person.
My children have also benefitted as a result, with them joining my husband Chris and me on a mission trip a few years ago to visit orphanages in Indonesia. They have also grown up with a Mum who is willing to take risks, such as running a high and low ropes course for young people who reside in Ashley Detention Centre, or putting up my hand to help coordinate the youth work for the Kingborough Council, all of which I have seen as an opportunity to help give 'Hope' to our communities.
Yet you know what, of all the opportunities I have had, I have gained the most by the time and energy I have given. All the flyers I have made have helped me to be creative; all the arguments I have helped resolve amongst families have now helped to serve my family; and the work I have carried out in the Northern Territory with those from our Indigenous cultures have helped teach me to be a rock when it is right to stand firm, and be like a river when it is right to go with the flow.
I wonder what skills you could bring to our school community, or to your child's class? We are always looking for volunteers to help in a kitchen or garden class, or someone to help share their talents as a scientist or tradie, an artist or an architect. I believe volunteering is a great way to be part of the community and I bet you will feel a great accomplishment and will feel the joy that you have provided to others around you. We would love to have you on board :)
Many blessings,
Kath Dolliver

Crazy Hair Day
What an amazing effort! The longest line was won by Grade 4. Their coin line stretched for over 90 metres. Discussions are in progress as to which movie they will watch. A grand total of $1000.95 was raised. Well done Snug students and special thanks to the SRC for their organisation of this successful event.
Headlice
A number of students across our school have had head lice recently. Please check your child’s hair today and over the next few days. If head lice or eggs are discovered please inform the school and treat thoroughly, ensuring that after your child has been treated you remove all the eggs. Treatment with chemical solution only kills the live lice not the eggs. One egg can cause a re-infestation.
Jump Rope for Heart
The jump off date for our school is Tuesday 26th of July (not the 26th of June as the recent letter stated, our apologies for this mistake). Fundraising will close on this date. Look out for posters around the school soon to see what the prizes are. Please click the link below to see the Snug Primary School fundraising webpage, donations are preferred to be online this year. Thank you!
