Principal’s Report
Hi Snug Families, Staff and Community,
I’d like to say a big hello, if I haven’t seen you already, and say its fantastic to be back at Snug Primary after my trip. I was lucky enough to visit three different countries – India, Sri Lanka and Thailand – and did everything from animal safaris, to Muay Thai martial arts, to lazing on the beach! Needless to say, I am feeling really refreshed and thrilled to be back at our magic school.
A big thanks to Mrs Woolley and Andrews, and our staff, for getting the year off to such a positive start. Students are settled, some incredible teaching is happening…it is a very exciting time to be part of the team.
NAPLAN
NAPLAN kicked off this week, an opportunity to collect some data from our Year 3 and 5 students to paint a picture of how our school is tracking, to identify what we are doing well, and to help inform our next steps. Testing continues next week. The results will come out in some months.
HARMONY WEEK
Its Harmony Week next week, and it kicks off with our Harmony Day assembly today. This is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the diversity within our community, and to honour and value the things that make us the same, as well as the things that may be different, those things that add richness and depth to our lives and cultures.
GRADE 6 CAMP
Our Grade 6 students are heading off to Dodges Ferry next week for their annual camp. It is always a highlight of student schooling, and this group will have the opportunity to participate in surfing, abseiling, climbing a rock wall, wheelchair sports, a giant swing – as well as be away from home ad spend time with classmates and teachers. It is an opportunity for them to step outside of their comfort zones, test themselves and do something new.
BIKE ED
Our Year 1 and 2 students have been getting taught in key elements of riding a bike and bike safety at our Bike Ed program this week, and next. These extra curricular activities are so valuable in supporting student to develop appropriate skills to support their safety outside of school, in the community.
TOUCH BASE
I also just wanted to extend a hand out to all parents and caregivers, and let you know my door is always open should you wish to discuss something with me. We are in this together, doing what we can to provide the best educational, social and emotional experiences for our students (your children) and I always welcome your input into finding ways that we can best do this. If you would like to make a time to meet, please call the office and arrange a time. Alternatively, feel free to have a phone chat, and if I can’t get back to you immediately, will call you back.
Kind Regards,
Blair Curtis

Kath’s Spot
Can you remember losing something that was really precious to you when you were a child? I remember my family and I had travelled to Leeton in NSW. That morning I had been super excited, and when I woke up in the caravan I had sat there playing with my precious Cabbage Patch Doll “Susan”. I decided to dress her in her original outfit that she had come in - equipped with her gorgeous little white shoes. Later that day we were looking over the top of a ledge towards the dam and I accidentally dropped the shoes from the Cabbage Patch Doll over the edge, and fortunately for me saved the doll itself - phew. I remember feeling devastated. The same feelings have come up over the years too when, as an adult, I too have lost random things and not being able to find them.
Here at Snug Primary we would hate to see a little person bring something special to school and then something happen to it. It may get lost or broken, and I could imagine it not only impacting how they feel that day, but perhaps future days depending on how special the item was to them.
We want school to be a wonderful place for them to learn and create, to build relationships and to have new experiences. That’s why our students have been working on the habit this week of “Special gear doesn’t come here”. Despite the fact that it is lovely to share your special things with others, we feel it would be better to leave these special things at home and maybe show them to friends when they come around to visit. This way we can avoid any disappointment or hurt felt if any thing was to happen, and we also don’t get distracted with those special things in learning time as well.
Many Blessings
