Principal’s Report
Hi Families and Community,
As another term comes to an end it is worth reflecting on the really positive things that have happened at Snug Primary School this term. For the first time in a long time, we’ve really been able to open up to our community, and to get out and about, and the incursions and excursions this term have enabled us to really function like the community school we are at a heart – and it’s been wonderful to see our students enjoying the opportunities that have come their way.
Changes to the Department
As some of you may be aware, there are some significant changes at the organisational level of the Department of Education, which , from October 1, will now become the Department for Education, Children and Young People. The new Department will be responsible for child and youth centred activities including:
- Tasmanian Government Schools
- Child Safety
- Youth Justice
- Libraries Tasmania
- Child and Family Learning Centres.

Year 6 Camp
Year 6 students have just returned from a really successful camp at Blue Lagoon, Dodges Ferry. What was really thrilling was everyone was prepared to have a go at some challenging activities, and stretch themselves – surfing, abseiling, the big dipper swing, rock climbing. An amazing few days.
Athletics carnival
Just a reminder that our Athletics Carnival is on the first week back in Term 4, on the 19th. We hope to see you here!
Holidays/Student Free Days
I am sure everyone is looking forward to a spring holiday from Monday! We come back to school on Monday, Oct 17. A reminder that students will not come to school on October 20, and 21, as these are a public holiday and a student free day too.
Have a safe and enjoyable break, and see you back in term 4.
Kind Regards,
Blair Curtis

Kath’s Spot
During this week I had the pleasure of joining the Year 6 camp at Blue Lagoon where each of the students had many opportunities to step out of their comfort zones and try something new.
Our students did surf lessons, abseiling, rock climbing, archery, the Big Dipper and so much more!
What an opportunity to put into practice our current habit of the mind of ‘We challenge ourselves when faced with the new experiences”.
Do you find it hard to challenge yourself, especially when hard or tricky new experiences come your way? Sometimes it is so important to look at our young people and be encouraged by the opportunities that they have been willing to take, and encourage them to continue to take the moment to try these new things. Indeed it is these new opportunities that will help them to expand their self concept and allow them to build their character along the journey.
May we help to provide opportunities that will continue to extend them and us within the future.
Many Blessings
