Principal’s Report

Hi Parents, Families and Community Members

As part of the new Department of education reporting process, we ae offering Parent Teacher

interviews in Week 9 this term. You can find the booking form here: https://snugps.schoolzineplus.com/view-session/6

The interviews will be an opportunity to talk to your child’s teacher about their learning progress, application to learning, wellbeing and/or learning goals. As per the changes to reporting, you will not receive written comments in the end of year report, so this will be the time that you can get an understanding of your child’s learning as we head towards the back end of the year.

Book Week Parade

It was so amazing to see our community come together for Book Week Parade last week. So many students and teachers were involved, it really was an excellent community event to promote a love of reading. Thanks for taking the time to put together costumes for your children, and for coming along. It really made the day.

Snug/Margate Sports Day

We are excited about the prospect of hosting Year 5 and 6 students from Margate Primary for a sports afternoon on Tuesday 13 September. They will go head to head with our Snug 5/6 students in footy, indoor soccer, netball, basketball and handball. Games will start at 12.45pm, for any parents who want to cheer from the sidelines.

Kind Regards,

Blair Curtis
Principal

Kath’s Spot

When you are at home, standing in the kitchen and you realise you don’t know how to do something - what do you do? Do you google it? Do you phone a friend or your Mum or someone? Or do you have another strategy?

This week our students have been practicing actioning some different strategies to find an answer when they don’t know something. This may come in lots of different forms whether it’s just not knowing all the instructions, and they use the strategy of asking a friend, or it may be not knowing how to add up two different numbers and they might go to the maths trolleys and choose some objects such as blocks, counters or the like to help them to come up with a solution.

There will always be moments in life when we are unaware of something, or how to do something, so it’s great that our students are putting this skill into practice this skill, so that it can become a life skill for them for the rest of their lives.

Be an encourager when you have seen your children putting strategies into place for finding a solution, praise them for their great efforts. We all know that we stand a little taller when we are given praise and encouragement, so don’t be tight on it, give it as often as we see great works. They will appreciate it, I guarantee it.

Many Blessings

Class in Focus – 1A

Last week was book week and we all dressed up as our favourite characters. Everyone looked amazing and we had a fun time at the parade.

In Maths, we are learning all about measurement. Last week we have been using informal measurements to measure things inside the classroom.

STSSA Winter Carnival

Netball

On Tuesday 23rd August, some of our Year 5/6 students took part in the STSSSA Netball Winter Carnival at the STNA courts. All the students involved, including four Snug representatives Lucy L, Indie H, Ella L and Lily S played their hearts out and showed a great attitude and excellent sportsmanship. Our Huon and Channel Hawks came 3rd in Division 2, losing only to the teams that finished above them. Our division 1 team was challenged by the Blue team, but had a hard-fought, come from behind 1 goal victory to remain undefeated, which meant they finished 1st in their division! Well done girls!
