Principal’s Report
Hi Parents, Families and Community Members
It has been heartening to be reaching out into the community and region again this term.
We welcomed a group form the Sea Shepherd to our school earlier this week, who spoke about marine conservation, and what our students could do to ensure the health of our oceans and marine ecosystems. Students from our school joined the combined schools Waratah band for a performance last week; there is already huge interest from students to participate in the Brixhibition Lego competition; and we are looking forward to hosting Margate School at Snug later this term, for a sporting contest between the two schools Year 5 and 6 students.
A significant number of Snug students also made various Huon Channel sports terms – they did a fantastic job, and we will certainly be well represented in the broader schools winter competition.
The school will be running a Trivia Night for parents on Saturday, October 29. You’ll be able to register teams of 8, and test your general knowledge against the rest of our community. It was a brilliant night last year, and we expect more of the same in 2022. More details will be provided shortly about how to register, and to book your place.
In school, our SRC recently held a series of discos, which raised $400 for our school.
And don’t forget our book week parade, which is on next Wednesday! We can’t wait to see the book characters come to life, and welcome you on to our school for the parade next week.
Kind Regards,
Blair Curtis

What are you like as a patient, I wonder? When you are sick, do you absolutely love it and enjoy having the extra time off despite not feeling the best? Or are you more of the frustrated type, who had been working thinking “I’m so tired” and now you are unwell and have the time to rest and you are thinking “I need to be back at work”? Or is there a better way to describe you when you are sick?
I have recently been unwell, and my migraines returned and gee, I realised I just feel frustrated. Frustrated that I can’t do what I hoped to be doing and frustrated that I can’t get back to where I would prefer to be. With a migraine too, it’s not like you can enjoy your time at home and think “oh I might clean out a cupboard, or gets some things done”. My head just pounds so it’s not like you can even feel productive at home. It just feels like wasted time, which I guess is where the frustration lies.
Many people feel the same when they turn up to something and they are standing waiting for someone else to arrive. It’s like wasted time that becomes unproductive, which in turn increases frustration. There is a quote that says “the people that turn up late, always look so much happier than those that have been waiting for them”, I think it is probably quite accurate.
What does this all have to do with caring for young people? I think it is always good to reflect on how we feel in certain situations. This then helps us to identify the ‘why’ behind our actions and helps us to see how those actions impacts on those around us.
I need to be conscious when I am unwell that, because I feel frustrated, I need to watch my actions and I need to rest instead of trying to, guns blazing, get back to work. Because it usually only makes my health worse and then makes myself, and everyone around me, more frustrated!
Be kind to yourself, and be observant about how you are feeling in the moment; it will help you and others in the long term.
Many Blessings

Class in Focus – 4-5A
Our focus in 4/5A Skills was learning about electricity and how electrical circuits are constructed. We had endless fun exploring the 'brain box' discovery kits and created everything from light globes and fans, to listening to ABC news on the radio!

Book Week Parade and Book Fair
On Wednesday 24th of August we will celebrating one of our favourite events - book week parade 2022! This year's theme speaks to our sense of curiosity and imagination. How creative can you be this year with your book choice and costume? We hope you can all join us for the parade. This will be held on the top block basketball court at 9.00am.
The book fair will be held from Monday 15th August until Friday 26th August. Books will be available for purchase (cash preferred) in the office for this time.
Garden News
We have received a donation for $200 worth of vegetable seeds from a small family run business that stocks a huge range of flower, vegetable and herb seeds.
Heather made a simple enquiry and the gift voucher came in the return post. We are very grateful and send a massive thank you to them for supporting our school garden program.
