Principal’s Report
Hi Families and Community,
Reports/Parent teacher
Reports go home to families today. As indicated in previous correspondence, new reporting requirements this year means there will be no written comments on these reports. That means our parent teacher interviews are more important than ever! If you haven’t done so, please arrange a time to meet with your child’s teacher next week. (If you read this message after Friday, please contact your child’s classroom teacher on Seesaw or Dojo to arrange a time).
Growing Up Program, Week 10
The school is running its Growing Up program in Week 10. Its an opportunity for your child to engage in age-appropriate education about relationships, protective behaviours and sexuality, program for students from K-6, addressing addresses key content from the Australian Health and Physical Education Curriculum, the Department of Education’s Respectful Relationships Framework, and the Early Years Learning Framework. Letters will be sent home to families seeking your consent in your child’s involvement (when?)
End of Term
Hard to believe, but end of term has crept up quickly again – our last day in Term 2 is on July 8, with students returning to school on Tuesday, July 26th (Monday, July 25th is a student free day).
An update on face masks
Public Health has advised that from Monday 27 June 2022, face masks are no longer mandatory in schools and Child and Family Learning Centres. This is because of reduced COVID-19 cases in our community.
It’s important to continue to:
- stay at home if unwell, and get tested
- practise COVID-safe behaviours such as frequent handwashing and sanitising
- be up to date with your COVID-19 vaccinations.
Students, staff and visitors are supported to continue to wear face masks if they choose to. Face masks are still available at our <school/CFLC> if you need them.
When face masks are required
If you’re a close contact , you are still required to wear a face mask indoors as per current Public Health advice.
From time-to-time our <school/CFLC> might identify activities or situations where masks are required to be worn. We ask for your support when this happens and know that it is in the best interests of our students, staff and our <school/CFLC>.
Our staff will continue to wear masks when working closely with students who are vulnerable to COVID-19.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us directly to discuss.
For more information about COVID-19, please visit the Tasmanian Government Coronavirus website or contact the Tasmanian Public Health Hotline on 1800 671 738, or Department of Education COVID-19 Support Hotline at COVID19support@education.tas.gov.au or on 1800 816 057.
If you need support translating or interpreting this information, contact the Translating and Interpreting Service on 131 450.
Kind Regards,

Have you ever thought about the impact you leave on others? Whether it be by the things you do, and or by what you say, or the way you treat others. I wonder whether the way others are impacted, helps you to make decisions about your own actions?
Sometimes timing, or lack of time can impact on our patience or lack thereof, and sometimes how and what we say to others can be impacted by how we feel we are being treated. I question though, if we are to stop and treat the other person first how we wish to be treated, whether they may then chose to also treat us with respect and with reverence. I guess it’s that question which comes first, the chicken or the egg hey!
This week, how about we make a conscious choice to think about behaviour and the impact that it has on others and chose to have patience, to say the nice comment, to compliment others, to offer to help, and to look out for our neighbour. If we all did one nice thing a day, what kind of difference do you think it would make to our lives and to those around us? I think we all did this, it could change a whole community- let’s start in Snug!
Many Blessings

Class in Focus – Prep B
Prep B have been as busy as ever learning new skills, extending understanding, and consolidating knowledge. Recently we have continued learning new sounds and digraphs in phonics, exploring sounds in a variety of ways and creating related crafts to help us learn effectively. We enjoyed weaving webs with wool when we learned the sound ‘w’ and planting in play dough for ‘p’. We use the sounds we have learnt to write words in many ways, such as with pencils or crayons or sometimes even with magnetic letters. This week we learnt the diagraph ‘sh’. We were very excited because we made a shop in Prep and made delicious milkshakes. We also had a marshmallow treat!
In Science we have been investigating motion, especially the concepts of slide, roll, spin and bounce. Our experiments have allowed us to explore the meaning of these concepts using marble runs, ramps, wooden machines and magnetic ball runs. We tested which surfaces allowed cars to move best and also which type of ball was best for various movements.
We hope you enjoy seeing photos of our fun learning in Prep B.
