Principal’s Report

Hi Families and Community,

External School Review

We had our external school review last week. It was an opportunity to identify what we were doing well, and also put some actions in place to continue to improve to support our students. Thanks to everyone who participated – your input was really valued. We will be meeting as staff over coming weeks and months to enact the recommendations to continue to move Snug Primary School Forward.

Reports/Parent Teacher Interview

A reminder that we have reports going home in week 8, and parent teacher interviews in Week 9. Because there is a new reporting process this year, there will some changes in Parent Teacher Interview/Reports. The interview will give you the opportunity to discuss these changes with your child’s classroom teacher. We would love to see as many of you as possible!

Changes to Reporting in 2022

Assemblies

Great to have everyone together for a whole school assembly again today. While some of the restrictions around Covid are easing, we still ask that when coming on site you remain mindful of social distancing, and if attending assembly, or other indoors events, please wear a mask.

Kind Regards,
Blair Curtis
Principal

Kath’s Spot

I was recently watching what I would call ‘non-thinking tv’ that being Celebrity Apprentice. Which is funny, because although I am meant to be not think anything about it, I go away thinking about the process, and then realise, it has in fact been the opposite type of tv watching that it was meant to be! But anyway, it struck me that it was a great reflection of what we have been teaching our students this week in our habit of the mind in that “We think about our behaviour and know it impacts others”, or indeed the opposite. It seems sometimes even celebrities have sometimes not come to the understanding that what they may say or do may impact on others around them. When they say hurtful comments to a team mate, it does indeed impact on their relationship with that team member. Or if they take the time to listen to their team mate, or build them up with encouragement, and set them up for a win, that builds on their relationship, and makes for a sturdier foundation.

Often we are viewers watching on, at how our children form and build on their own relationships. We see how they treat others, and the impacts of their behaviour upon those relationships. While we are viewers, we also need to be mentors, and show our children and those around them, how to foster healthy relationships, and show them the effects of their behaviour on those around them. We want them to know that they can choose to make a positive impact on those around them. Indeed they need to take the moment to think about their actions, rather than being oblivious and unaware. Just as we need to as well. I’ve said it before, let’s choose to be Kind. Everything we do impacts, whether it be good or bad. Let’s choose to make a positive impact in the world around us, and a lasting impact that can change the community around us.

Many Blessings
