Principal’s Report
Hi Families and Community,
External School Review
Two important days for our school Monday and Tuesday, with our external School Review being undertaken on site. The review process which happens once every four years aims to evaluate Snug Primary School’s progress, with aims to raise student achievement and sustain high performance. The reviewers will talk to teaching and other staff, and some community members, students, to draw some conclusions and provide greater clarity on how we can continue to improve learning at our school
Kath Dolliver
I’d like to say a huge thank you to our Chaplain, Kath Dolliver, as it is “Chaplain week”. She does an incredible job of supporting schools and families, with a deep knowledge and care of our Snug Community. We are lucky to have her.
Huon and Channel Cross Country
Well done to our Huon and Channel cross country representatives, who did a geat job in flying the Snug colours earlier this week.
Parent Survey
Last chance to complete the parent survey, which we sent out last week. We have had a lot of respondents- thanks for your input into proving thoughts on how we can continue to improve as a school, and ink with families and our community. If you haven’t done so, please take the time to fill it in – it literally takes a few minutes, and your contribution is invaluable.
Kind Regards,
Blair Curtis
Principal
Kath’s Spot
Well this week is Chaplaincy Week, and I want to celebrate the blessing that it is be the Chaplain in Snug Primary. After working in Snug Primary for over 10 years in this position I have been so fortunate to become part of the furniture, and to settle firmly into the Snug Community.
During my journey at our school I have seen so many students, staff, principals, and families come and go along the way, but as part of that I have been able to invest in the lives of those here and now.
As our students strive to become wonderful learners, as their chaplain I hope to be a person that is available to them to help them to find ways in which they can achieve this to the best of their ability. I am keen to find ways to help remove any roadblocks that may get in the way, and to help put supports and networks around them.
Let’s celebrate together Chaplaincy Week - and how thankful we are for funding to be able to offer this position in our school.
Many Blessings
Kath Dolliver
Chaplain
Interschool Cross Country
As always, this was a great event for our students on Wednesday! Thank you to Mrs Woolley for her organising and co-ordinating, to Mrs Waddington for jumping in at the last minute to make up the staff team with Kath Dolliver and to our parent volunteers who stepped up to make this happen with a day’s notice! A special thanks to Mick and Charlie Wright and Fletcher Murray for transporting the school marquees there and back and setting/packing them up; thank you to Trudy Murray and Kathryn Griggs for taking on official ‘recorder’ roles and to other parents and family members who helped in various ways and cheered our team on! Last but most definitely not least, well done and congratulations to our students, you did an amazing job with your races and were excellent Snug representatives and we are very proud of each and every one of you!

Library Audit
We have recently undertaken a library audit and we need families to be aware that there is over $1500.00 worth of overdue book fines. Thank you to those who have responded to their notificiations already and paid the fee allowing their children to borrow again. Please make this a priority for the benefit of all Snug students. Thank you!
Book Club
Book Club orders are submitted and paid for online via the Book Clubs Loop. Please go to the link below. It’s a very straightforward process to sign up and then super quick and easy to place orders. The Loop for the current book issue will be closed off on Thursday 9 June so ensure you have your orders in by then. Books will arrive to school and be distributed to students a few weeks later.

External School Review
As part of our continuous school improvement, we will be involved in an External School Review with a Review Team. The purpose of External School reviews is to support schools to raise achievement, sustain high performance and provide quality assurance to build public confidence in government schools.
All Tasmanian Government Schools will be externally reviewed every four years. The focus of the Review is to evaluate school performance. The Review Team consists of a Review Chair and trained Review Principals. The review will occur on 30 and 31 May.
We will find out the aspects of the school’s improvement that have been verified through the Review processes as well as the improvements that we need to make in the future.
During the External School Review, some students, parents, School Association members and staff will be asked to provide information to the Review Team in a number of ways. These include:
- individual interviews
- group discussions (with students or staff or parents)
- meetings (usually School Association, staff meeting)
- visits into classrooms
We appreciate your support and time in helping us with this External School Review process.
If you do not want your child to participate, please let your classroom teacher know. If you would like more information please contact our Principal, Mr Blair Curtis, on 6267 9230.
