Principal’s Report
Hi Parents, Families and Community,
Winter Feast
It was amazing to see such a fantastic turn out for our school’s first Winter Feast last Friday. It was really a joyful night – thank you to everyone who supported the event. An extra big thanks to our amazing school association who organised and ran the event.
Learn to Swim
Our year 3-5 students have their Learn to Swim in Week 9. Please ensure they come equipped with everything they need each day.
Hats
A reminder that now we are into spring, all students must wear hats at school. Sunscreen is also recommended, so please apply to your child before they come to school.
NAPLAN
NAPLAN data has been released for our students in Year 3 and Year 5. A copy of their results have been sent home.
Grade 6 Play
Tickets will be on sale Tuesday for parents of our Grade 6 students who are doing their performances in the last week of term. Tickets can be purchased at the Office.
2021 School Satisfaction Surveys
Each year the Department of Education conducts School Satisfaction Surveys in Tasmanian Government schools, to gain feedback on what you think our schools do well and where you think we may improve.
We encourage you to complete the survey about Snug Primary School. Your feedback is very important to help us inform our school planning and decision-making.
You can complete the online survey at any time until Friday 17 September 2021.
Survey link:
https://ncv.microsoft.com/Vp1iGy6smD
All responses are anonymous and confidential with the survey carried out on a secure website.
Feedback is only accessible to the school principal and teachers and relevant Department of Education staff, in online summary report formats with no individuals or families identifiable.
For any assistance please contact Education Performance and Review by emailing: schoolsurveys@education.tas.gov.au.
Thank you for taking the time to fill in this survey.
Kind Regards,
Blair Curtis

Kath’s Spot
Our Students this week have been chatting about how mistakes make our brain grow. It literally does! It allows opportunity for our brain to grown with new information and new discoveries, and new neural pathways. Doesn’t that sound good? And wouldn’t we want that for your children? I know though, sometimes it is hard in the moment to see our children get things wrong…maybe to not pass the word list, or to get an answer wrong on a maths test or the like. But these moments create opportunities for discussions and to growing and new learning to occur.
There is a wonderful quote by Michael Jordan that says “I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over again in my life. And that it why I succeed”. If Michael Jordan one of the world’s top basketball athletes can learn so much from his mistakes, why wouldn’t we want to embrace them to? In fact both ourselves and our children embracing our mistakes would make a huge impact surely?
I know it’s hard, but lets try in the moment try to take a deep breathe, and then try to embrace the moment. Maybe use a phrase like “well what a great moment to learn from” or “well aren’t mistakes a great opportunity for our brains to grow- yours must have just grown again!”. And maybe for us bigger people thinking to ourselves “what can I take away from this moment?”. Sometimes you soon realise it would have been a success if only for a little tweaking, so do the tweaking and try again- what’s stopping you! Have a go!
Many Blessings

Winter Carnival
We would like to congratulate Noah Davies for being selected in the Huon and Channel Hockey Team that participated in the winter carnival last week! Noah flew under the radar as per usual and was so modest about his selection that he forgot to tell anyone he was chosen! We also want to congratulate Fletcher Murray who was named as the most valuable player for the Huon and Channel Football Team who also competed in last week’s winter carnival.
Indie Hunt representing the Huon and Channel Hawks last week.
