Principal’s Report
Hi Parents, Families and Community,
Kean Family: Just a huge thank you to everyone in our amazing community for the response to support Susie Kean and her family after their house fire. I know how appreciative she has been with all of the support she received. A huge thank you from us too – we are lucky to have you as our community.
Book Week: Always a fantastic time on our calendar, Book Week is next week. Our teachers will be organising different literacy activities related to Book Week in their classrooms. Our annual Book Week parade in on Tuesday, August 24, at 9am. Students are encouraged to dress up as their favourite book characters to participate in the event. Parents are welcome. (Please remain mindful of social distancing while on site).
Winter Feast: Our Snug Primary School Winter Feast is on next Friday, August 27. There is going to be a large selection of food, from meat on a spit, sushi, pizza, pasta, dumplings, fairy floss, dessert mulled wine, cold drinks, and fire pits. We hope everyone in the community can come and join us.
We are still looking for some volunteers to help us on the night (We have schedule of one hour spots) so if you can help out, we would greatly appreciate it. Sign up here:

Habit of the mind: Our school’s Habit of the Mind next week is an important one, and links to a big push as a school of developing students who are thinkers, and problem solvers. “Mistakes are valuable – they make your brain grow!” is a mantra we want our students to embrace. We want them to try new things, correct, try another angle, and think about the process because we know that is where the rich learning takes place.
Reading nights: Wonderful to see so many students hitting 50, 100, 150 reading nights this year. Reading is absolutely critical to all student learning, and reading with parents and caregivers, and independent reading is so important. Please support your children to read as much as they can!
2021 School Satisfaction Surveys
Each year the Department of Education conducts School Satisfaction Surveys in Tasmanian Government schools, to gain feedback on what you think our schools do well and where you think we may improve.
We encourage you to complete the survey about Snug Primary School. Your feedback is very important to help us inform our school planning and decision-making.
You can complete the online survey at any time until Friday 17 September 2021.
https://ncv.microsoft.com/Vp1iGy6smD
All responses are anonymous and confidential with the survey carried out on a secure website.
Feedback is only accessible to the school principal and teachers and relevant Department of Education staff, in online summary report formats with no individuals or families identifiable.
For any assistance please contact Education Performance and Review by emailing: schoolsurveys@education.tas.gov.au.
Thank you for taking the time to fill in this survey.
Kind Regards,
Blair Curtis
Principal
Kath’s Spot
Family life always has its ups and downs doesn’t it, you just hope that most of the time most of the crew are on their way ‘up’! Sometimes though individuals, especially children, will need that little boost to help keep them going. Often, as parents we will see when our kids need that, but if we can train all members of our family to look out for others, and help to prop each other up, when needed, then it means we all have a wider support system with lots of people looking out for us.
This week our habit of the mind has been “we look for moments to be kind to each other”. Encourage your children to look for moments to help carry something for someone else, or to give something away. There are endless moments in our day to be kind, and it doesn’t have to cost us a fortune of money, but it may cost us in our time or effort. Please consider taking the time to mentor your little people- what they see you do, is what they will do. Let’s be kind to each other this week.
Many Blessings
Kath Dolliver
Chaplain

Kinder age keyboard lessons
Would your child like to play a musical instrument? Keyboard is a great first instrument to learn! I take students from age 4, and teach in either 15 minute or 30 minute blocks. Fun is an important part of my teaching, and I hold performances throughout the year.
I teach at Kettering and half hour lessons are $30.
