Principal’s Report
Hi Parents, Families and Community,
Coronavirus
The situation involving coronavirus continues to shift and evolve rapidly. The new Delta variant has impacted most states on the Mainland, and we have also had a case in Launceston appear yesterday. The man from NSW was in quarantine, so there has not been any community transmission identified. However, the reach of this new variant means that we need to remain agile and ready to respond in Tasmania should it enter the state. As a school, we have a Covid Safety Plan, and we’ve reviewed our approach as a staff if we need to manage a Covid event that affects our school.
We can’t stress enough that if your child, or you, have any cold or flu like symptoms, please do not come to school, and get tested.
Susie Kean
As most of you would be aware, our fabulous teacher’s assistant, Susie Kean, and her family, lost their home to fire last week. Our Snug Community has rallied around, and through a Go Fund Me page, is raising money to support them to get back on their feet. We are also running a fundraiser at school – please send in coins as we are trying to snake a coin trail around a large part of the school.
You can find the Go Fund Me link here:

Winter Feast
Please set aside the evening of Friday, August 27, to join us at Snug Primary for our Winter Feast. Our School Association is working hard to prepare for the evening, where there will be a range of food and drink on sale from 5 to 8pm. We hope you can join us for what is sure to be an amazing event.
Kind Regards,
Blair Curtis

Kath’s Spot
All of a sudden it appears like I have looked around and everyone seems to have had a growth spurt and they already seem to be preparing to be setting themselves up for the next year level they will enter.
With this, independence really needs to grow and we need to encourage our kids to take on more responsibility. In fact, surprisingly carrying out their responsibilities for them may hinder them rather than help them, so let’s help by encouraging them rather than ‘doing’ for them. We want to give them opportunities to start taking the initiative to perform tasks for themselves and, preparing for, and arriving at, school is a prime example.
These are 5 indicators of a successful learner:
- They will carry their own backpack to the classroom.
- They will take the things they need for the day out of their bag - lunchbox, drink bottle, wordlists/reader and folder.
- They will place their bag in their bag box and their other items in relevant spaces in a timely manner eg. lunchbox in tub 4. They will say “good morning” to a teacher or fellow student, or have some form of communication with someone.
- They will say goodbye to family/friend doing drop off and find a task to move onto.
A good start is step 1 - always encourage your child to carry their own backpack to class! Please, please! It creates so much independence and I know lots of the early years classes are working really hard at growing independence to set them up for next year. This is the perfect first step! And, you know what… it’s one less thing for you to do -hehe- you’re welcome!
Many Blessings
