Principal’s Report

Hi Parents and Caregivers,

Trivia Night

A huge thanks to our School Association for organising a Trivia Night Fundraiser, which will take place at Snug Primary School, 6.00pm-8.00pm on Saturday 5th June.

Cost is $10.00 per person.

If you haven’t done so already, please put together a team and join us for a fun few hours.

Tickets can be purchased at the office.

NAPLAN

Snug Primary School completed its NAPLAN testing today for our Year 3 and Year 5 students. Student results will be provided later in Term 3.

Bike and Road Safety

Can everyone please take the time to chat to your children about road safety, both for students as pedestrians, and as riders of bikes and scooters. The school has been contacted about incidences of Snug Primary School students who are putting themselves and others at risk on our roads and footpaths, particularly when not taking care and looking out for pedestrians and vehicles. Our number one priority is to ensure all of our students remain safe at, and getting to and from, school.

Winter Uniform

With the cold weather definitely here now, its important that all students are appropriately rugged up for the chill! Our uniform policy allows for students to wear a school jacket which is a windbreaker which is great worn over the fleece, and beanie, both of which can be purchased from the office. Students can wear gloves, but not in the classroom. If students wear a long sleeve t-shirt under their school shirt it must be white or black. Socks must be black or white. (Our uniform policy was created by our School Association).

Special Gear

A reminder to families that we ask students not to bring special toys, and special possession etc. to school. All too frequently, special toys, or gear, goes missing, or gets damaged. There is also no trading of toys before, during, or after school, on school grounds. (There is often a power imbalance in the “trading” process, and students often trade objects that are special to them, and come to regret it later!) Students allowed to have fidget toys or sensory toys are those that have written documentation from a paediatrician.

Kind Regards,

Blair Curtis

Kath’s Spot

Have you ever been sitting waiting for someone to turn up to something? I can imagine we would all have a moment in time when this has occurred. I often have gatherings where we are waiting for others to arrive. Are you the person that is always running a little late? Or the person sitting waiting?

There is a quote that goes something like “the person turning up late always looks a lot happier than those that have been waiting for them”. Do you think that rings true?

I often think for the person that is arriving late, they are thinking “I want to use every last minute to do all the things I need to get done”... but then in turn the person waiting is left thinking “clearly your priorities are more important than what you think mine are” or “my time is okay to be wasted by waiting for you”. How does that make you feel?

This week our students have been extending their value of excellence, learning the habit of the mind “Be on time - every second counts”. And while we are particularly focussed on this so that the students are not missing out on important information to their learning, we are also reminded that it is also being kind to those that you are with.

There will always be times when we run late, I myself have moments of things all running into each other and so if I’m late travelling from one to the other...it then impacts on all the other appointments too. Aren’t we glad for forgiving family and friends! But I wonder this week, let’s try to schedule our timings so it is practical and so that we don’t leave our friends and family hanging waiting for us.

Many Blessings
