Principal’s Report
Hi Parents and Caregivers,
It’s hard to believe we are already at the end of the third week. Our students have settled in wonderfully and we are already seeing great examples of our Snug CARES values in our classrooms and through the school. Our Year 6 students have done an exceptional job over the last few weeks, putting their hands up for roles as School Representative Council members and House Captains. They delivered some excellent speeches, highlighting their pedigree to take on the roles. Well done to all who were prepared to stand.
Eat, Meet and Greet
A reminder that we have our ‘Eat, Meet and Greet’ evening on Wednesday, 3rd March. This is an opportunity for us to connect with you, say hi, and outline some of what we are doing in our classrooms in 2021. We know that some families have been with us for a number of years but it’s still great if you can come in and say hi to your child’s new teacher on this day, see their new classroom, meet the new staff that have joined us this year – and generally be a part of our welcoming community with a snag in bread ‘on us’!
Classroom teachers will be available in their classrooms for an hour on the night. Kinder, Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 teachers will be in their classrooms from 4.30pm to 5.30pm. Year 3 to 6 teachers will be in their classrooms from 5.30 to 6.30pm. Hope to see you then!
Our links with you
One of the things Snug Primary School is most proud of is our links with you, our parents and community.
I wanted to reiterate how much we value the chance to meet with you and discuss your child’s learning. The ‘Eat, Meet and Greet’ evening is an opportunity to touch base with your child’s teacher, but should you wish to arrange a time for a more comprehensive catch up, please don’t hesitate to contact the office. Senior staff (myself and Assistant Principal, Miss Loretta Woolley) are also available to chat if there are issues that you would like to canvas with us too.
Bike track
You have probably seen the signs up around the school of the bike track closure. The track upgrade was completed in the holidays and while we are delighted with the new features, we just need to tweak the design a little to enhance safety. We are keen to open up the new section as soon as we can and are currently working with the track designers to arrange a time for them to complete the amendments. In the meantime, the flat section of the track is open to students during school time. The track is closed to the public at other times though until the work is completed.
If your child is bringing their bike to school, can you please check that the bikes tyres are suitably pumped up, the brakes are working well, the steering is aligned, and their helmet is fitted snugly. Thanks.
Kinders
Our Kinders have started extremely well and are settling in to the new routines with their teachers and new classmates. A big thanks to our brilliant Kinder team - Mrs Martyn, Mrs Lockwood and Mrs Ashlin - for being so well prepared to support our three classes as they settle in to our school community. Welcome too to our new parents and families – we are excited about partnering with you during your child’s schooling here.
Strategic Focus
Our schools strategic priority this year is really digging down to know our students individually, and be clear about their individual learning needs against the Australian Curriculum and learning progressions. Our staff are undertaking significant professional learning around assessment and data literacy, so we have the tools to understand where each Snug Primary school student is on a learning progression, and from there, we can develop and implement programs of work that cater to students at their points of need. Our professional learning curriculum focus for 2021 is Maths.
Kind Regards,

Kath’s Spot
As I sit and write this I can hear the sound of the wind blowing through the trees and the rustling of the leaves sounds like the putter patter of rain on a tin shed roof. How peaceful is it to just sit in the moment and take the time to hear and see what is happening around you?
But life doesn’t often afford us the time and space to stop in the moment to enjoy such things does it? I’m often struck by the fact that there is still washing to do, kids to be fed and errands to run. And no matter how much I might try to avoid these things, they still happen to be there at the end of the day. The juggle of Life is Real hey!
With this, anxiety can grow and sometimes frustration can take over. When others don’t understand your world it can be confusing and overwhelming, but I want to encourage you when you are feeling like this. I encourage you to try share with someone the honest feelings of how you are going, or what might be a struggle at the moment. They might have a great idea to help ease the burden or might be able to lend a hand in the practical sense. Then in turn you may even have a moment to just sit and process life itself, time to smell the roses as they say.
Just like us our students we all need time and space to process aswell, so maybe if anxieties or frustrations in your household are rising, maybe stop and ask some data related questions. Questions that might help to open them up, and perhaps help them to figure out a way forward. Keep me posted on how you go, I always hearing how it is all going.
Many Blessings
