Principal’s Report
Gym Opening
Our official gym opening was an outstanding success. Attended by the Minister of Education, Jeremy Rockcliff, and the Opposition Education Minister, Josh Willie, a number of Members of parliament and other dignitaries from the Department of Education, the opening was a real celebration of the continued growth and development of Snug Primary School. Special thanks to Bille, Ava and Sam from Year 6 for hosting the event – they were fantastic. The students were exceptionally well behaved, the school looked incredible – a lot to be proud of.
Remembrance Day Assembly
Another excellent event, our Remembrance Day assembly, was a thoughtful and respectful acknowledgement to honour those who have fallen while serving Australia’s services. Run by Mrs Ashlin’s 3-4A class who were extremely well-prepared and did a wonderful job. School students were extremely respectful, and once again showcased our Snug CARES values.
Huon Channel Athletics
About 40 of our students participated at the Huon Channel Athletics today. It was a wonderful day with all students trying their best and cheering each other along.
Illness
A little reminder that although we have been lucky to escape the worst of Covid, we need to maintain vigilance. If your child is unwell, please keep them at home, and/or see a doctor.
Kind Regards,

Kath’s Spot
I wonder what it is that helps you to feel encouraged? Is it a kind word, a positive affirmation, a card with nice words in it, or receiving a text to tell you how much someone appreciated what you had done. What is it that helps to build you up? I think it is always great to sit and reflect on what we appreciate, because then we know what others might find helpful.
I know for me as a parent, sometimes life is just so full on that it is hard to know if you are getting anything right at the time. It’s almost as if you just keep on plugging away, hoping you are making a difference to the lives around you. But when someone has taken the time to give me some positive feedback, it certainly does give you a lift doesn’t it!
Our students have been working on the habit of the mind, We help each other by sharing positive encouragements, and it has prompted me to think about how else can I give positive encouragements to those around me. I wonder who you could flick a positive encouragement text to right now? Or who could you make a point of encouraging next time you see them? It may very well make their day!

Fitness Fun for Everyone
Our “Fitness Fun for Everyone” program (part of our Heart Foundation Innovation Challenge Grant that we were successful in gaining) has had a great start. Everyone is welcome to come and attend the free sessions offered by the trained instructors. The timetable and a brief description of each session, as well as our Covid practises are attached below.
Class in Focus – Prep A
Students in Prep A have had a wonderful time learning about the life cycle of a mealworm in Biological Science this term. They have been learning how to be scientific thinkers and have been responsible to create their own healthy habitat for the mealworm. These posters are examples of their first attempt at a scientific report. They even had a go at a scientific drawing with labels and scientific mealworm facts!!
The children also would like to show you their art work from the book “Ten on a Twig” by Lo Cole. It is a book about subtraction and a highly recommended read.
