Principal’s Report
Dear Families,
I’d like to take this time to celebrate the resilience and commitment of our Snug Community as Term 3 comes to an end next Friday.
With the return of a more typical school structure this term, our teachers, EFAs and TAs have done a wonderful job of providing a high-quality education for our students. Our students too, have been working hard to realise our SNUG Cares value, of being strong participants in our community, and doing their part to continue the proud tradition of Snug Primary as a safe and caring school where students can achieve great things.
It has been a real team effort, and one worth noting.
Year 6 End of Year and Graduation
This year, more than ever, it is so important we celebrate the contribution of our Year 6 students, before they head off to secondary schools in 2021. With that in mind, it’s exciting to note that plans for the Year 6 graduation and end of year activity are well underway. The Year 6 teachers will inform students and Year 6 families of the timetable before the end of term.
Looking After Snug Primary
Just a reminder to those who use our school after hours, please continue to look after our grounds and facilities. We are exceptionally lucky to have such an incredible physical environment, with terrific playgrounds and acres of green. We welcome our community on site, and just ask that you ensure your rubbish is put in the bins, and any equipment you might use is left in the same state in which it was found.
If you do see anyone on site involved in appropriate behaviour, please don’t hesitate to call the police and also let the school know. We appreciate your support.
Kind Regards,
Blair Curtis
Principal
Kath’s Spot
It’s almost the end of term, and as we feel like we are heading down the end of the race track towards the finish line, I feel like sometimes we need to look and make sure there are not lots of bodies lying on the track as we try to get there. There are a lot of us parents out there feeling tired and I’m sure, in these moments, patience probably isn’t our first virtue that jumps into action. Often in life we are just trying to make it to the end, as unscathed as possible.
I know for me, it’s really important not just to keep my eye on the end, but also to try to make eye contact with all the others in the race to let them know “I’ve got your back”. To succeed in life, it is not about pushing everyone else out of the way, or letting others know what everyone else has done that was wrong, or just stepping over those that are down, it’s about running the race. And if no one else is there with you at the end to celebrate, it’s not much of a race is it!
Let’s help each other, especially in these tough times, and look after our own mental health. Talk to someone about how you are feeling. Seek assistance when you need it and check in with your mates and see how they are going. You never really know what one conversation has meant to the other person. Be kind to each other.

School Photos
Due to COVID, our school photo date had to be postponed from Tuesday 7 April to Tuesday 3 November.
Each student received an order form earlier in the year with a unique shootkey for families to order and pay online at
https://www.msp.com.au/
If you have misplaced your form, please contact the office and we’ll provide you with your child’s shootkey.
Sibling photo order forms are available from the school office
Please note, if you already placed an order in March, there is no need for you to place another order as MSP have retained all orders in their system.
Year 6 KHS Transition Parent Information
Please note the Year 6 Orientation Day at Kingston High School will be Friday 4 December NOT Wednesday 2 December as has been previously communicated. More details will come out closer to the time.

STAS Eligibility Changes
The Tasmanian Government has announced the expansion of the Student Assistance Scheme (STAS), which waives the cost of Tasmanian Government levies for eligible students, for the 2021 school year onwards.
The eligibility for STAS will move to using the Health Care Card or equivalent as the assessment mechanism, replacing previous income thresholds that applied.
A set of Frequently Asked Questions has been developed to assist with any questions you may have.
Further questions about STAS or Levies and Charges in general can be sent to the Department of Education’s Financial Services Unit at stas@education.tas.gov.au or by calling 1800 827 055.
