Principal’s Report
Dear Families,
It’s lovely to be able to feel the Spring change in the air, and with it, the exciting opportunities at Snug Primary. It’s also a time for optimism, especially so this year, and there is evidence of fantastic things happening throughout our school.
Garden
The school garden is looking absolutely incredible, with the new spring growth the beginning of a bumper harvest. Classes have been in the space, shovelling compost, weeding garden beds and getting ready to put food on the table.
Daily PE
With the sun out, the Daily PE sessions led by our 5/6 classes has been running brilliantly. It’s an opportunity for our senior students to develop their leadership, planning and organisation in working with our other classes. They are doing themselves proud.
Parent Surveys
Thanks to those parents who have completed the parents survey. Its great for us to get your feedback so we can continue to improve. Today is the very last day to complete them so if you have time and haven’t already done so, please fill them in! We appreciate it.
Transitions
Work is well underway to support our Year 6’s in their transition into high schools next year. December 2 has been nominated as Orientation Day date for the southern region. Snug Primary has also been in contcat with high schools to enable the smoothest possible transition for your students. Next years kinder students have also joined us on site and we are excited about a set of new faces joining us in 2021.
Class requests
Just a reminder that a note was recently sent home about class requests for next year. If you have a request you would like considered, please address in writing or email to Mr Curtis before the end of term.
Snug parents collecting children from Margate Primary
Can Snug parents who are dropping students off at Margate Primary School to catch the bus please not enter the Margate Primary School school carparks as they are for staff and students with disabilities.
Kind Regards,
Blair Curtis
Principal
Kath’s Spot
Isn’t parenting interesting how it all works? I often feel like I’m flung a new challenge, like all of a sudden one of my children are battling with something, it could be anxiety, frustration, or even issues at school. Then I struggle away trying new things, and then all of a sudden I can see light at the end of the tunnel. It’s like finally we are making our way through the darkness, and the challenging times. You start thinking ‘wow I’m so glad that’s almost over, time for a break’, and then like clockwork, it’s as if your children have tagged each other, and all of a sudden the next child needs your attention.
Sometimes you might even think ‘I’ll try this, this solved the issue last time”, and then you soon realise what worked for one child is not miraculously going to work for this child. You’ll have to pull out all the stops and try something new. Been here in this place?
Parenting is like a place of learning, we are always learning. We are honing our skills we have already learnt, practicing them each day, and at the same time being brave in trying out new ways of thinking. So today please pat yourself on the back, sit down and have a cuppa and think about what you have learnt already this year. What challenges have you faced this year, and totally nailed I wonder? Be proud of these!
And if you are still in the midst of those trying times, keep going lovelies! You are doing awesome!!!! One step at a time, and we will be here for you before, during and on the other side. Just yell out if you get stuck in the current along the way, and can’t seem to make it to shore, and helps us also to celebrate you when you have made it there. Snug CARES, and we are a community that cares for each other. Let’s continue each day to look out for others.

School Photos
Due to COVID, our school photo date had to be postponed from Tuesday 7 April to Tuesday 3 November.
Each student received an order form earlier in the year with a unique shootkey for families to order and pay online at the link below.
If you have misplaced your form, please contact the office and we’ll provide you with your child’s shootkey.
Please note, if you already placed an order in March, there is no need for you to place another order as MSP have retained all orders in their system.

STAS Eligibility Changes
The Tasmanian Government has announced the expansion of the Student Assistance Scheme (STAS), which waives the cost of Tasmanian Government levies for eligible students, for the 2021 school year onwards.
The eligibility for STAS will move to using the Health Care Card or equivalent as the assessment mechanism, replacing previous income thresholds that applied.
A set of Frequently Asked Questions has been developed to assist with any questions you may have.
Further questions about STAS or Levies and Charges in general can be sent to the Department of Education’s Financial Services Unit at stas@education.tas.gov.au or by calling 1800 827 055.
