Principal’s Report
Hello families,
Well what a week of weather it has been! It was certainly challenging for some of our staff to get home from school on Tuesday, but at least everyone stayed safe.
Growing Up Program
The Growing Up program has concluded and it went really well. Students were engaged and learned lots about growing up and relationships relative to their respective year levels.
Excursions
Some of our classes have begun to undertake excursions again. One of our Year 2 classes headed off to the Woodbridge Marine Activity Centre today, a lovely way to learn about our marine environment. It’s a huge plus that our students are again allowed to travel a little further afield.
Kitchen Garden
Incredible culinary happenings in our kitchen garden, with students moving from sushi, into pasta. The garden space is looking fantastic and well-prepared as spring approaches for a bumper harvest.
Amazing Classrooms
There have been some amazing things happening in our classrooms this term. Our teachers are focusing on functional grammar and how that can be used to improve student writing. I have seen some wonderful written pieces by students of all ages in the past week.
Kind Regards,

Kath’s Spot
This week the students have been working on putting into practise the Habit of the Mind ‘We take responsibility for our actions’. It got me thinking, sometimes that feels hard sometimes doesn’t it, but it’s important nevertheless.
I remember one day our youngest child was at Family Day Care, and when I went to pick him up she explained about an incident that he had with another child, regarding another toy from memory. Wonderful Pip had explained to him that his actions had been not okay and that he would need to apologise to the other child. He had replied “but that’s really hard”, and it had really struck her that he had been really genuine with the bit that often stops us from taking responsibility, because sometimes it’s really hard.
Often in the moment we may be able to own our actions, but taking responsibility for them sometimes means apologising, or making it right in some way, and sometimes that is literally replacing what we broke or taking action.
How do you go at carrying that out? Because our children and those around us need to us modelling this, so that they turn can gain confidence in doing it too. I encourage you to sit and reflect and next time you consciously realise you could have done something a better way, why not own it. I reckon you will be a better person for taking responsibility, just like our children will become better community members if they learn this skill as well.

Class in Focus – Year 3/4A
This term in 3/4 we are looking at Earth Sciences. We will be investigating how day and night occurs and how the Earth changes over time.
To start our unit, last Tuesday we held and inquiry day were we investigated a range of stations. There were five stations.
At the first station we created the moon phases using Oreo’s. Then we created landscapes and showed how weathering and erosion effect this. We melted lollies to show the different types of rocks. Created the Earths layers using LEGO’s. The last activity was to create a diorama to show what day and night looks like.
Our favourite activities were creating the different types of rocks and making the moon phases.
