Principal’s Report
Covid 19
With the spike of Covid 19 cases in Victoria, it’s more important than ever that we continue to adhere to the Department of Education guidelines around social distancing to ensure we remain safe. The requirement for adults on site is that you must continue to social distance at 1.5m apart.
Parents are now able to come on site and into classrooms to drop off and pick up children. We do ask, however, that you continue with the practice of moving off and on ASAP.
For those adults who are on site for longer – whether it’s having a meeting with a classroom teacher, or supporting in a classroom etc., you will need to complete a health screening form each time this occurs.
Please encourage your child to remain committed to strong hygiene practices, including washing of hands.
Additionally, we ask that if your child is ill, that they do not come to school until they are back to full health.
Growing Up Program
The Growing Up Program starts next week. This is a valuable program to assist students in caring for themselves and others, and understanding the importance of respectful relationships. There is a parents’ session from 10.30 until 11am on Monday in the multi-purpose room for parents kinder to 6.
Uniform and Haircuts
We have had a number of students who have been coming to school not in school uniform. Black pants need to be black (not with stripes or large logos as per school policy), and a school jumper (not a random hoodie) needs to be worn. If students have lost their jumper, they can come to the office and we can lend them one. As it is also mid-winter, please ensure that students have a warm jacket and school beanie on these cold days.
A reminder that our School Association policy on haircuts is neat, hair tied back over shoulder length, and no hair dying.
Learn to Swim Program Cancelled
Please note, limited pool availability and the need for longer lesson times to comply with COVID-19 means that we are ineligible to participate in the Year 3-6 Swimming and Water Safety Program this year.
Kind Regards,

Welcome back to Term 3! It’s hard to believe that its already the second half of the year, and before too long we hopefully will be starting to plan our big summer holidays. Last Sunday, our biggest boy managed to fracture his wrist on the last day of holidays, while skateboarding. For someone who has spent a lot of time in hospitals, I was reminded of all the processes and waiting time that is involved in a visit to the Emergency Room. Even after having his wrist cast, Master 16 said “The cast is even stronger than my wrist, so I should be able to start skateboarding straight away again”. Sigh.
Parenting is wrapped up in all of these ups and downs isn’t it. Filled with moments of laughter, of hurt, of joy and of pain. Each day, we often walk into it not knowing what to expect. Sometimes we look at our children and can see such confidence and passion, and yet other times their anxieties feel like they are growing and changing each and every day. Life is unpredictable, especially in current times. Over holidays I was reminded how fortunate we were to be able to go out and enjoy the fresh area, and travel to see some wonderful parts of Tasmania.
During the week I was listening to an interview on the radio raising awareness for the ‘R U OK?’ campaign, when I was reminded that routines are a great way to keep on track. I’m a fan of sometimes rolling with the punches every now and then and just seeing what happens, but in order to help anxieties and dealing with depression and the like, holding to some type of routine helps to make sense of each day. Whether it be just getting out of bed at the same time of day each day, or catching a certain bus, or doing a walk around the neighbourhood, finding a routine for you and your family that serves you all is ideal.
As we carry out this parenting gig with our best foot forward, let’s be mindful of others around us. I wonder who could you personally check in with, to see how they are going? Who could you pop in and visit, or phone or text, or send a card to? Throughout these very high highs and the low lows we need others to celebrate and cheers us up when we need it most. So don’t put off connecting with others, make the call now. Go on I know you can. That’s what is so amazing about Snug Community, we are a community that supports others. Snug CARES.
Many Blessing to you all
