Principal’s Report
Dear families,
A wonderful Remembrance Day Assembly was held on Monday in the school hall. Our Year 3 students demonstrated great leadership as they presented the assembly with respect and thanks for the sacrifices people have made in past wars which have enabled us to live the lives of freedom we have today. A big thank you also to Mrs O’Malley also for coordinating this.
Sadly, the Interschool Athletics carnival had to be cancelled yesterday due to the inclement weather conditions. Well done, however, to all students who performed well enough to be included in the team. They showed great resilience in braving the weather for a couple of races before the carnival was cancelled too. Thank you to all staff involved in the preparation for the carnival and the families who offered their support.
As I have visited classrooms this week it is evident that there is such a variety of rich learning experiences available for all students at Snug PS. It is wonderful to see how engaged the students are in their learning. This is evident from the way they are able to talk about their individual learning goals and articulate what they need to do to achieve these goals. I have seen science experiments, spelling groups, guided reading groups, numeracy thinking, imaginative play and writing tasks all in evidence.
I also popped into the kitchen/garden space today and what a hive of activity it was. Despite the wind, there were students busy planting fig trees and weeding garden beds. Inside, students were shelling beans and cooking up a storm in the kitchen.
What a wonderful, busy community of learners.
Kind Regards,
Louise Lynch

Disappointment is hard, isn’t it? It’s one of those emotions that, as a parent, we wish we could take away and be able to make sure our children never feel it. But in reality, everyone feels disappointment at some point, don’t they?
This week I joined our Snug students in attending the Huon Channel Athletics Carnival. We are well known for our Snug CARES values wherever we go, so I always look forward to seeing our students in action in our community.
For those who were not there, the rain came down, and it continued, and our students were patient, and understanding and were great at looking out for others during this time. I saw students running their little hearts out! What amazing efforts they put in! But part-way through the thunder started rumbling and it appeared that lightning wasn’t far away so the organisers made the call to cancel the rest of the carnival. So we all had to pack up and return back to school.
Some students didn’t get to run their races, some didn’t have any opportunity to participate against fellow schools but I didn’t hear complaining or anger. They were disappointed for sure, but they were smiling and having fun with each other.
I am always so proud of our students, but even more so on Wednesday. Through disappointment our students learn other skills that will serve them later in life. Despite us not wanting our children to be disappointed, and we would never throw this emotion at them on purpose, they will learn resilience throughout moments that test them. They will learn patience and understanding, and oh so much more.
Let’s give our children a pat on the back for pushing through and bouncing back. We are all so proud of each of our students, for all they learn each day.
Many Blessings
