Principal’s Report
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
The first week of school can be an altogether exciting and anxious time.
New school Principals feel this too.
Of course I had been told by everyone – all of the staff here, and other people who have connections with the Snug community – about what a wonderful school it is and how fortunate I was to be appointed in the role of Principal. And of course they were right. The community has been incredibly warm and welcoming to me in the short time I have been here, and for that I am extremely grateful.
And I know that settling in every year is always a process for your children too. But as I have wandered in and out of classrooms this week, and chatted to students and teachers, I have been struck by the calm and productive tone throughout the school. Classrooms look fantastic, teachers are well-prepared, and as a result, students are engaged in their learning and with each other. And every time I have entered a classroom the students have promoted the Snug CARES values.
As well as exciting classrooms, there are a raft of other additional programs coming up to support the learning experiences of Snug students. Kitchen garden, bush kinder, Grass Roots leadership training, the swimming carnival, and the Year 6 camp, are all programed in over the next few weeks. Snug Primary School certainly goes the extra mile to ensure that students are engaged and offered different learning opportunities.
We’ve certainly started the year in a wonderful way.
Kind Regards,
Blair Curtis
Principal
Kath’s Spot
Welcome Back to the 2020 school year! For all of those who don’t know me, my name is Kath Dolliver and I have the pleasure of being the Chaplain in Snug Primary. I have been in this role for the last 8 years, so I guess by now you could say I am part of the furniture.
You may often see me out at the Bus stop of a morning, welcoming families to school, and I am often popping in and out of all the classes, so each student is used of seeing me around. I can help support in times when things are a bit tough, or you may need an extra boost like a big chat, a food hamper or food voucher. Sometimes students may want to have a chat about something that they may feel like is a really big issue, or a really small one, whether it is about friendships, anxieties, or family concerns, I’m here to chat with, and I can refer onto others or let you know of other service providers that may be able to assist.
Parenting is sometimes a really tough gig, and together with the community support around us, we are attempting to raise well rounded children full of compassion, and care for others around them. I know for myself, that sometimes there are times of real ‘Joy’ when I watch on as one of my children does something that fills me with such pride. Yet along with that, there are also times of anxiousness or wondering ‘where to from here’ in my parenting dilemmas. I wonder whether you find this as well?
Together, as a community we need each other to help share the load. When one is low, lets help to prop them up hey! If you find you need an extra hand or someone to talk to along the way, even just to throw some ideas around, or work out next steps, please yell out. I’m here at school every Wednesday and Thursday, and you can find me outside somewhere, or check in with the office, and then they can help to track me down for you.
Many Blessings
Kath Dolliver
Chaplain

School Banking
Wednesday is school banking day. Please remember to write your student number on the deposit slips. Replacement Dollarmite wallets are available from the office.
New Bankers are very welcome – for every new banker, the school receives a $5.00 commission and then 5% of every deposit made thereafter. Just head to any Commonwealth Bank with some ID for yourself and your child (a drivers licence and birth certificate, for example) and ask to open a Youthsaver Account for School Banking. You’ll be given a deposit book and Dollarmites wallet on the spot and will be able to begin banking the next business day - it’s that easy!
Rewards Program: For every deposit your child makes, they will receive a silver Dollarmite token. Once they have received 10 tokens then will then receive a gold Dollarmite token which they can redeem for an exclusive Dollarmite reward item.
