Principal’s Report
Friday night saw our annual Snug Jingles. What a superb turn up for the evening and wasn't the weather amazing! A grand total of $4669.80 was raised for the night which is being used to purchase some manchurian pears trees. These will be planted outside the new gym and the current Year 3 building. Special thanks to Michelle, Dearne and Chris and their School Association team who organised such a successful event.
Despite the changing weather students from Jeffery house had a fun Rewards day at the Blackmans Bay Skate Park and Beach yesterday. They are to be congratulated for achieving the most amount of Snug CARES reward points for excellent behaviour in the playground.
We had a great turnout at our Volunteers Morning Tea last Tuesday. We are so appreciative of the many family, friends and community members that regularly come and support our students and events. We couldn’t be the awesome school we are without you all!
The Triathlon last Friday yet again provided ‘challenging’ weather conditions for our students. We did, however, have our biggest participation rate from Snug to date, around 67 children! It was a fun day for everyone despite the chilly temp, wind and rain and our Snug CARES were very much on display.
Today Reports are coming home. Teachers have worked tirelessly in the last few months to gather evidence. Please take the time to celebrate with your child their successes.
- Monday night (16 December) will see our Year 6 Leaders celebrate their achievements at the graduation evening. We will be joined by many distinguished guests from the community to recognise this fantastic group of students. We wish our leaders all the very best as they transition to Kingston High and beyond.
I was excited to attend the Kindergarten performance on Wednesday. The students were proud of their acting abilities and it was a pleasure to see the parents supporting all students with encouragement. Thanks to the Kinder team who took the time to prepare these outstanding performers.
We have two final assemblies next week to thank and farewell everyone for a magnificent year at Snug Primary. We have achieved great learning outcomes for all students and showed yet again how much a community can achieve together. The Kinder to Year 2 assembly is on Tuesday 17 December at 9.30am and the Year 3 to Year 6 is on Wednesday 18 December at 11.10am.
Next Wednesday 18 December your child will have an orientation meeting with their 2020 class teacher. They will have the opportunity to ask questions and become familiar with the room they will be working in next year. There’ll be a few location changes for classes as our gymnasium excitingly nears completion!
As this is our final Newsletter for the year, I wish to thank the staff, students and community for their ongoing support at Snug Primary this year. It has been a difficult year with changing leaders but, as our motto suggests, together we have achieved personal excellence. Take care over the holidays and enjoy spending time with your children as they grow so quickly.
Kind regards
Loretta Woolley

Message from Mr Blair Curtis
Dear Snug Community,
It is with great pleasure I introduce myself as the new Principal of Snug Primary School. I will begin in 2020, and feel honoured and privileged to have been appointed in the role.
I come to Snug having lead the primary campus at Sorell School. Prior to that, I was Assistant Principal at Glenferrie Primary School in Melbourne.
In my visits to the school this week, it is evident what a special place Snug Primary School is. I'd like to thank students, staff and School Association members for being so warm and welcoming. I'd like to give particular thanks to Assistant Principal, Loretta Woolley, for her support during this transition period.
I am excited about my future in the coming years at Snug Primary, and working with you all to continue to provide a quality education and experiences for students. I know how important community is, and am keenly aware that school, family and local partnerships are a cornerstone of Snug's success.
Providing a stimulating education that meets the needs of individual students is central to my educational vision, and I know that the school is already delivering fantastic learning outcomes, work that I will continue to promote.
I am looking forward to meeting all of you next year. Please get in touch any time - my door is always open.
Kind regards
Blair Curtis
Kath’s Spot
Where has this year gone? It seems like yesterday that we were all starting back ready for a great year, and what a year it has been!! Now we are getting ready for holidays, time with families and time to relax.
As I sit here donating plasma while I am writing this, I am conscious of all those who are currently struggling with health issues or sickness. I am aware of families juggling house moves and families working hard each day to keep everything ticking over.
I am thankful for my time here at Snug. I am thankful for you sharing your world with me and allowing me the opportunity to help out where I can. I have appreciated all the support and care along the way and I feel privileged to be able to work in a school where I feel truly appreciated.
We are still awaiting confirmation from the Government as to which schools will receive the funding they have set aside for the next three years of Chaplaincy. But while we wait, I will take the time just to say ‘Thanks’. I know other Chaplains in other schools and I feel fortunate to be placed in Snug, my local community.
Bless you all at this special time of year, I know it is always special for our family to spend time together. Reach out and see if you can show kindness to someone around you over this season. It may very well be the thing that keeps them going.
Many Blessings
Kath Dolliver
