Principal’s Report

Dear Families,

I hope you have had a great start to Term 4. This is always a busy, exciting and enjoyable time of year for all of us.

It has been lovely for me to be so warmly welcomed into your school community and I have certainly enjoyed getting to know students, families and staff. Please call in to say hello as I would love to meet you.

Even though I have only been at Snug Primary School for one week, It has been really obvious to me how much of a community school Snug is with all members working to uphold the Snug CARES values at all times. There is a warm feeling of respect and acceptance at the school of which you should be very proud. The students have an obvious pride in their school. This is evident in the way they wear their uniform with pride and their excitement in chatting with me about their school. I was lucky to attend a School Association Meeting on Tuesday evening where, once again, the sense of community and care for the school came through.

As I have visited classrooms, there is also a strong sense of Snug Primary as a Learning Community. Students are eager to share their learning with me and show me what they have been working on. So far this week I have observed “Genius Hour” spelling, word study, grammar, maths challenges, reading, gardening, drama and PE happenings around the school; Snug Primary School certainly is such a vibrant place to be.

I am looking forward to catching up with as many of you as possible as the term continues.

Warm Regards,

Louise Lynch
Principal

Kath’s Spot

This week as part of our habit of the mind the students have being learning about treating others with Respect. They have been practising this by being in class on time as a sign of respect to their teachers. Gee, there are really so many ways we can show Respect, aren't there! And picking just one simple way and practising it each and every day, is a great way of putting it into action.

Yesterday I was listening to a podcast about the new tv series "The Hunting" which is a series about teenage cyber safety and bullying. The guest speaker, Sophie Hyde, the Australian Film Director, who is a mother and also the creator of this SBS Show, stated "Every interaction you have with another person should leave the other person better than when you found them".

This really hit me as something we should all do, shouldn't we? Shouldn't we all be saying nice things to each other, being kind and showing respect to each other, so that our friends and those we meet along our journey become better people from the conversations and interactions that we have with them? I know as the year gets closer to the end, often we can all let a little bit more of our "not so good" self hang out as we get tired or even a bit grumpy. But is this how we really want to be seen in our community?

We want to be seen for our Snug C.A.R.E.S - our caring of each other, our acceptance and respect, our excellence and how we keep each other safe. Why is it that I find myself still trying to learn this? You would think that we would have it all under control by our grown up years, but I'm the first to admit I still get things wrong. I still might say something, and then wish I hadn't. But I can change that. I can make more of an effort, I can make good choices in what I do and say, and I can apologise when I get it wrong. Do you want to try nut this stuff out together?

Lets try this week to Respect each other. Lets try with one simple task, just like we are asking of our students. Pick one thing that you can try to work on, and lets give it a go this week. Lets do this!!

Many Blessings
