Principal’s Report
Dear Families,
It is my great privilege to be Principal at Snug Primary School for Term 2. Thank you to everyone in the school community for your warm welcomes to the school. Students have returned to school this week excited to be back and fully focussed on their learning. All classes are involved in an amazing range of learning opportunities and students are engaged in exploring and sharing their learning. We all acknowledge and thank Loretta Woolley for her outstanding leadership of the school throughout Term 1.
We welcome two new staff members this term. Fran Hewitt will be our P.E. teacher for Terms 2 and 3 and Leanne Hebden will be supporting teachers on Wednesdays as part of the Middle Years Literacy Project. We welcome them both to our team and we thank Lyn Heerey for all her wonderful work throughout Term 1.
Our Habit of the Mind focus this week has been ‘Work Together – being able to work in teams and learn from others.’ As staff, we are constantly learning with students and colleagues. I am looking forward to learning a great deal from the Snug Team and to working together to continue to improve student outcomes.
One of the highlights at school this week has been the start of our student led Daily P.E. program. Year 6 students have worked hard in Term 1 to plan targeted physical activities for classes to participate in every day. As well as providing essential active time for students, this program gives Year 6 students opportunities to build leadership skills through planning, implementation and reflection on feedback. The Student Leaders are showing an impressive level of skill in guiding and managing groups.
The other highlight this week has been the commencement of work on the new School Gymnasium. Fencing went up over the holidays and the current work is to remove the old sheds. Keep an eye on our newsletters and Facebook page for photos of the works over the coming months.
I am looking forward to meeting all families over the coming weeks – please call in and say hello.

Kath’s Spot
Have you ever got to the end of an important event, say a running race, or a drama production or a work event and just burst into tears? I certainly have, and I imagine I am not alone. Often you are so heightened with emotion, and you have put such an effort into the event that it all just seems to come out sideways when you finally finish and feel like there is the opportunity to slump over and let it all hang out, so to speak.
I noticed in our cross country this week, that some students that have found that moment at the end of the race challenging in the past, ran over the end finish line, and instead of tears instantly rolling down their face, smiles and joy were there instead. What maturity these students have learnt along their journey! It takes courage and resilience to get to the end and not want to blame the person in front for something, or to feel like something in your body is breaking down...mind you, I know some things in my body have very well started that breaking down process.
Sometimes in life there are unfortunate circumstances, or things that just don't seem fair at all. Here at Snug we are a school that plays fair and looks out for others, but invariably in community, accidents and incidents will happen at some point. A bit like life really hey! I remember a teacher one day said to me when growing up "You don't have to like the other person, you just have to love them in all the moments when they need it most".
A huge congratulations to all our students who accomplished so much during this week- what an achievement! And for all you parents, carers and friends, thanks for all your wonderful support for our school. Thanks for volunteering to hand out ribbons, thanks for giving the teacher a pat on the back, and thank you for sharing your praises for our school to those around you. Thank you for showing courage and resilience in the moments when it is hard. What a great example this is for our students who watch on for opportunities of greatness in action.
"Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek"- Barack Obama
Many Blessings
