Principal’s Report
Our Eat, Meet and Greet was held on Wednesday evening and was an opportunity to not only meet the teacher and find out information about programs run in the class but also a chance to welcome new parents and families to our community. Please ensure you have taken up the opportunity to join your child's class communication app. This will be either Class Dojo or Seesaw. These apps provide a way of communicating on a regular basis with the class teacher and keeping you up to date with class happenings and events.
Year Six Leaders are heading out next week to Blue Lagoon Camp, Dodges Ferry. Students will be engaging in leadership activities that promote resilience, persistence and team building. We look forward to hearing about the fabulous time that they have. This week we have seen a wonderful display of leadership opportunities for our Year Six leaders as they have delivered their speeches for the House Captain and SRC Executive positions. These roles allow the students to be given leadership opportunities and make a positive difference in our school. It made me proud to listen to the speeches that students delivered with confidence and enthusiasm.
Congratulations to the following students who will hold these positions for the year:
Jeffery House Captains - Georgia Collett and Campbell Fraser
Jeffery Vice Captains - Mae Riley-Smith and Dylan Belbin
Hartz House Captains - Mia Atherton and Jay Dolliver
Hartz Vice Captains - Jorja Mott and Oliver Gregg
Torpy House Captains - Sunita Buamee and Angus Evans
Torpy Vice Captains - Lily Barratt and Tyson Tregear
Congratulations to the four SRC Executives for 2019:
Mae Riley Smith
Hannah McIvor
Toby Norris
Patrick Oates
Our Snug School Swimming Carnival is rapidly approaching. If you are able to assist on this fun filled day please contact the front office. At the moment we only have two volunteers. With additional support we can ensure this day will be a great success.
Our stunning new entrance!

Kath’s Spot
Last weekend I was up in Devonport with the family while one of our boys, Jay, played soccer in the National SAP (soccer) festival. His team unfortunately didn’t have their usual goalie so it meant the boys needed to have a few people volunteer for doing a shift, or two, or three in the goals.
At the end of a couple of matches I noticed the goalie was very emotional just trying to hold it all in. And it struck me that those young boys who had put up their hands to play in goals felt like they had let their team down if a goal had gone through. But in fact, it was the opposite! Their team was actually really thankful for them putting their hands up to go in there, so in most cases it meant they didn’t have to.
Do you ever feel like you have let people down? Maybe at the end of a long day, when you have actually completed 10,000 jobs, you may feel disappointed that you didn’t get to do that one extra job for whoever. Is that right? Yet I wonder if those around you are counting their blessings for being around you! They are probably all looking on thinking “I don’t know how they do it!”... yet instead we are thinking we are not doing enough.
You know what... I think we need to be a bit kinder to ourselves, and give ourselves some slack once in a while. So go on, when you are feeling stressed or disappointed later today or throughout the week, use your ‘detective thinking’ and think ‘is the picture I have of myself accurate right now?’
Many Blessings

Class in Focus – Year 6 Team
PE News
We have enjoyed some fantastic P.E. classes with Mrs Lyn Heerey.
Each class has been working on what it means to work together as a team. Teams have worked together using cooperation and communication to complete the tasks.
In the pictures below you will see the students played a game where each team had to make it from one side of the hall to the other, while connected together. Whenever the whistle was blown they all had to stand on their piece of newspaper without ripping it, otherwise a piece would be torn off the paper making it harder to all stand on it.

We’ve seen some fantastic team work skills being put into practice during the classes.
On Thursday 7 March, Year 2-6 students will be heading to the Huonville Pool for our Snug Swimming Carnival. Please see below for more information including a ‘Swimming Ability’ and ‘Alternate Afternoon Travel’ (if necessary) slip to return to school by Monday.

‘Little Sprouts’ and ‘Branching Out’
Welcome to 2019. We would like to introduce our Launching into Learning Team at Snug Primary School. This year our team members are: Jane Martyn, Linda Jolleys, Gale Pfennigwerth and Kath Dolliver with support from Loretta Woolley and Leah Willis.
We are very excited about the year ahead!
Our sessions will include:
LITTLE SPROUTS
Thursday 9:00am-10:30am with Mrs. Martyn, Gale and Kath in the Kinder Possums room. These sessions will commence on Thursday 21 February.
BABY SPROUTS:
Thursday 9:00am-10:30am with Mrs. Martyn, Gale and Kath in the Kinder Possums room. For the littlest members of our community we will have a special baby space for tummy time and exploration in the Kinder Echidnas room. This will be a quiet space giving families an opportunity to play, relax and chat with their babies and other parents. These sessions will also commence on Thursday 21 February.
BRANCHING OUT: Thursday 1:45pm-2:45pm with Mrs. Jolleys and Gale. These sessions will commence on Thursday 14 March and may include music exploration, gross motor and outdoor learning. Stay tuned for updates on what is happening each week.
Starting in Term 2, Mrs. Martyn, Kath and Leah will also be providing some small group experiences and coffee and chat sessions to support families. More information will be available as the term progresses.
Please share this information with any new families in our area. We hope to meet them all soon.
We look forward to working together with you and your children.

School Banking
Wednesday is school banking day. Please remember to write your student number on the deposit slips. Replacement Dollarmite wallets are available from the office.
New Bankers
are very welcome – for every new banker, the school receives a $5.00 commission and then 5% of every deposit made thereafter. Just head to any Commonwealth Bank with some ID for yourself and your child (a drivers licence and birth certificate, for example) and ask to open a Youthsaver Account for School Banking. You’ll be given a deposit book and Dollarmites wallet on the spot and will be able to begin banking the next business day - it’s that easy!
Rewards Program:
For every deposit your child makes, they will receive a silver Dollarmite token. Once they have received 10 tokens then will then receive a gold Dollarmite token which they can redeem for an exclusive Dollarmite reward item.
Registration to Work with Vulnerable People
