Principal’s Report
Wednesday night saw our Year 6 Leaders celebrate their achievements at the graduation evening. We were joined by many distinguished guests from the community to recognise this fantastic group of students. Many thanks to Miss Katie Heard and Mr Ben McDermott for making the evening a true celebration of excellence. Our thanks also goes to the team of staff who worked together to get the hall and foyer looking beautiful for this special night. We wish our leaders all the very best as they transition to Kingston High and beyond.
We have two final assemblies next week to thank and farewell everyone for a magnificent year at Snug Primary. We have achieved great learning outcomes for all students and showed yet again how much a community can achieve together.
Next Wednesday your child will have an orientation meeting with their 2019 class teacher. They will have the opportunity to ask questions and become familiar with the room they will be working in next year. Many year groups will change location as we prepare for our gymnasium works beginning in March of next year.
Finally, it was wonderful to see the members of the Hartz team using the newly opened bike track yesterday. They ae to be congratulated for achieving the most amount of Snug CARES reward points for excellent behaviour in the playground. Snug Primary were part of the official opening on Wednesday with local and federal politicians and community members. We hope everyone in our school has the opportunity to make the most of this excellent track to ride, walk, run or scoot for a healthy lifestyle.

Kath’s Spot
As the year comes to an end it often becomes a time of reflection and reassessment for the coming year.
When I am creating the end of year slide show for the last assemblies, I love looking back and seeing photos of all the wonderful moments that have happened so far during the year. Seeing the joy on the students’ faces and the delight in their eyes as they try something new, complete something or have great success in their avenue.
As you look back at your year, can you think of such moments as this? When we were out yesterday on the Hartz rewards bike and walk along the Snug Track, I saw older students jump off their bike to help younger students who had fallen off, or their chain had fallen off. One student had commented that he and a friend had fixed six chains along the 5km ride, and gee I felt proud. The same pride that I felt as I saw our Year 6 students up the front on stage at their Graduation earlier this week, and also when I saw a Year 1 student tackle something they were feeling anxious about. It is in these moments, especially as I get that bit older, I feel tears well up in my eyes. Those tears are often a reflection of the journey that I know those students have taken to get to that point.
I am often yabbering on about all the wonderful things that are happening here at Snug Primary and that’s because I really do believe in what we do here. I believe in each student, staff, and community member showing and been shown Care, Acceptance, and Respect, and that by carrying out Excellence in something - Excellence will come. I also strongly believe everyone should feel Safe, and that everyone can help to provide a safe place for others. Here at Snug we are trying to educate well rounded students, who are not just contributors to their surroundings, but students who will go on to find their role in a global context, and make a positive impact in whatever way they can. This, for each individual will happen in different ways, and we are so proud of the difference they make in both small and large ways. Every little bit counts.
As you reflect on your year, what has stood out to you? What made you smile, or laugh, or shed a tear? How can you make a difference? Let’s pause to celebrate these wonderful moments along the way, because they are our journey, and every success and failure is a step along our journey. Michael Jordan once said “You only fail, if you fail to try. In fact those failures I have had along my career are the very things that helped me to succeed”.
Many Blessings

Drama Costumes?
We are currently missing quite a few costumes. Can everyone please have a look at home for any drama costumes and can they please be returned before the end of the year. It doesn’t matter how long they have been at home for - it can all be left in a bag on the stage for Kath to put away or dropped in at the office. We would really appreciate your assistance in this way. Thanks!
