Principal’s Report

We have had a great start to Term 4 with beautiful weather. Snug Primary is set on beautiful grounds and we are very grateful to all those who look after it. Our thanks go to Dave, Brett, Ruth and Stan for their ongoing hard work to keep our school grounds looking amazing as the grass begins to grow and our plants awaken.

It is great to see so many of our students riding to school independently or with family members - a great way to Move Well. Our safety rule is to dismount when you get to the blue line and walk scooters or bikes to the rack outside the Administration block for storage. Students are also welcome to ride around grounds after school however please ensure this is AFTER the late bus has left. Enjoy riding and stay safe by wearing helmets at all times.

At Snug Primary we pride ourselves as being a community that “Works Together”. Clear communication is a critical part of collaboration and I am so pleased that parents and community members contact me regularly about issues, thoughts, suggestions and celebrations. Our teachers are also more than happy to speak with families about any questions, big or small. Keep coming in to the school, phoning or emailing. We are all committed to working together with you.

The School Association AGM is on Tuesday 30 October and you are all warmly invited to attend at 7.00pm in the staffroom.

We are getting excited about our upcoming Snug Athletics Day on Thursday 1 November. Our PE teacher, Mr Max Watson, will be sending out more information about this fun day, please keep a look out for notices.

Finally, a reminder about the public holiday next Thursday 25 October and student free day next Friday 26 October. Our staff will be participating in Professional Development at Kingston High School with other local schools.

Kath’s Spot

Welcome back to the last term of the year! It makes me think “Didn’t we just start 2018?” It’s been a wonderful year, and we still have over 40 more great learning days to go.

While we were on holidays our family did a bit of travelling, which included time outside doing fun things together, and swimming in the pool. I love just watching on at my boys and just observing how they interact together, especially when all is going well.

As I watched my big boy hang out with the littlest boy it made me once again realise the impact of your position in the family. Boy No4 believes he can achieve all things. Whatever his older brothers do, he believes he can do it, and will in some context he feels like he can do it even better. And you know what, as I watch him achieve things, he can probably do it all at a younger age than the older ones did. Hence why he was riding a 2 wheel bike for 5kms when he was 3 years old!

I too, was the baby of the family. In my case, I am the youngest of 6 children for my folks. Yes it meant that I had hand me downs, but it did mean as everyone else grew up and moved out, I was the one who had lots of special one on one time with my folks. Now, having them both already passed away, I hold those memories close to my heart.

As you watch on at your children interacting with their siblings or with other children, look on proudly at what wonderful human beings you have created. Every child that you care for in any way, you have made a difference to their world. Smile at the impact that it has had to be the first born, or to be in the middle, or the baby. Each of them will have their own unique story to tell, of what life has been like for them. Encourage them, and inspire them to make a difference to others lives, because their story will help them to understand the world of others.

Many Blessings

Class in Focus – Kinder A

During Term 3, we explored our local community through our inquiry unit “My Place …. My Community”. Our big questions were ….

  • What is special about my place in Snug?
     - Where do I feel happy?
     - Where do I feel safe?
  • What is special about our community, Snug?
     - Places we visit
     - People who help us
     - People we can help

As part of our inquiry, we made a puppet person of ourselves to demonstrate what we will be to help our community when we are grown ups. We had pilots, train drivers, vets, police officers, footy players, doctors, builders and even a Dad

We enjoyed visiting Snug Village as part of our book week parade and to do some spring craft with the residents. These visits are vital for building healthy relationships and a sense of place between the older and younger members of our school community.
