Principal’s Report
How wonderful it is to be back at Snug Primary after my time away in the USA. Many thanks to Mr Ian Thomas who provided support and leadership in my absence. After speaking with Principals and educators overseas, I have been reminded about the high quality teaching and learning programs we provide for students here at our school. During the holidays there were teachers on site almost every day; setting up rooms for learning, planning quality learning tasks and gathering resources to make day 1 of the term amazing for our students. Can I again thank our teachers for their dedication to learning and to our school.
We were pleased to host Princes Street Primary School on Monday for a Professional Learning Day, where we learnt more about designing quality tasks for learning. Ensuring students have the opportunity to apply prior knowledge to new and unknown contexts is a challenge for all educators and we benefited from hearing another school's ideas about this area.
We have had some staffing changes recently that I would like to share with the community. Ms Georgie Chilcott has been offered a transfer to work with the Early Childhood Intervention Service and I know they will benefit from her strong skill set and welcoming approach in this support area. Ms Tenille Ashlin will be the teacher for Kinder B for the remainder of the year and our community have made her feel very welcome. Mrs Linda Jolleys will be leading Branching Out and the timetable for this and Little Sprouts are included below.
Ms Ange Burbury has been asked by the department to be acting Principal of Kempton Primary School until at least the end of August and Mrs Loretta Woolley will be acting in the Assistant Principal role in her absence. Mrs Lisa Fraser will be working full time in our school as she takes up more of a coaching role supporting our teachers. Mrs Linda Jolleys returns to us 8 hours per week as she recovers from wrist surgery.
I have been pleased to see so many parents volunteering in our school over past days. Many programs such as the kitchen and garden cannot function without support from parents, grandparents and friends of Snug. If you have an hour or two spare in your week, we would love to see you.
Steve Oakley has purchased a newer bus for his services at our school and would like to remind all students to use the seatbelts while riding in this vehicle. This is a mandatory rule on buses that have this facility.
Have a wonderful weekend

Kath’s Spot
During holidays I always attempt to make a few moments just to be able to stop and just take in all that is around me. In the last few days of holidays our family went away out bush to stay in a little cabin and have some family time.
These last days were filled with board games and reading, outside walks and rowing races on the water together. My highlight though was sitting on the swing in the stillness of the outdoor. The birds were chirping, and the gentle breeze was on my face, as I watched the sun go down and the moon rise into the sky. As I lifted my head I was struck by the eucalyptus trees gentle waving in the breeze and with the glow of the pink sky just filled me with joy.
I think we all need moments like this when we can stop and put life in perspective. You know what, sometimes life doesn’t always go to our plan, and sometimes our ideals are very different to reality, but we live in such a wonderful part of this world. We can breathe in fresh air, we can go outdoors and feel safe outside, and we should feel very blessed. How grateful I am, that our family has the opportunity to be together, and form precious memories to hold onto forever.
I wonder what you and your children feel grateful for today? Maybe ask them as you sit around at dinner time, you might be surprised by the little things that are so special to them.
Many Blessings
