Principal’s Report

When this newsletter hits your phone or computer, Ms Burbury and I will be on our way to the USA for our Hardie Fellowship. At Snug we are all learners and I hope that during our study we are challenged, informed, stretched and inspired, just like the students in our school. Mr Ian Thomas has visited several times and understands our high expectations for behaviour and learning. I know our community will make him feel very welcome in his Acting Principal role.

Thanks to all families who have paid extra attention to school uniform recently – our school is looking great!

Soon you will receive your child’s mid-year report and the code for our online booking system for our Parent Teacher interviews. Please read the information about your child’s progress and bring along any questions for teachers in the week following. Can I thank all our teachers for knowing their students so well, writing professional and detailed descriptions of learning and selecting the most important areas for future focus. We know that when home and school work together it brings the very best of results for student academic growth.

I hope everyone has a productive remainder of the term and I will see everyone back for the first day of term 3, which is Tuesday 24th July.

Principal

Kath’s Spot

I have a wonderful friend of my mine who has been around since I have been doing youth work. He has represented Australia in the Dwarf Olympics and last year coached the Australian Dwarf Basketball team to a Bronze medal.

Last night I was doing some sewing for him to resize a new suit for a function he is attending. Eli asked me “why don’t they just sell clothes to fit everyone?” I had to explain how, for my dear friend, nothing really is bought “just to fit”, and for him we need to make the length of the sleeves and length of the pants shorter to fit just right. For him life is, not so simple.

I was carrying out the sewing and it was very fiddley and a tad frustrating, but I thought to myself, for my friend - this matters. Making the effort Matters.

For your children, what is it that really matters for them? What are the little things that make life a bit more simple for them? Sometimes these little things may seem a tad frustrating, but to them it really matters. It may help life to be more inclusive and that’s what we here at Snug strive to achieve. An inclusive world for all to be a part of, where everyone matters, and everyone plays an important role.

When it all seems a little hard, be encouraged that what you are doing matters to those around you, and often those little things do not go unnoticed. It does make a big difference to your children. Thank you for making an impact for them.

Many Blessings

“Hooking The Reader”

I was standing in the long grass and then I saw it dashing inquisitively, wagging its spotted tail. It’s large, shiny black nose gleamed in the moon light. I then saw that it had one eye.
By Arlo

As I was going to the park on the weekend, I saw a lion. It had big blue eyes and fur that was nice and soft. His tail was as strong and long. His claws were as sharp as knives. It ran fast. He was so cool.
By Leo

I walked slowly along the rocky, wet beach surrounded by no one. I saw a glimpse of a blue wing behind a cliff. I started to walk slowly towards the cliff and I looked around. “Maybe I just imagined it.” I said. As I started to walk away, there was a groan. In the corner of my eye I saw a white wing but this time I saw a head as well with a blue mane. I walked around the cliff to take a closer look. There lying on the wet rocks behind the cliff was a … unicorn.

I stood ready to fight the knights. I am a Roman. I stood next to my friends Jack and Ivan. As my dad got stabbed by the King, tears fell down my face. I held the sword my dad had given me with the crystal. I put it in the hole with my father. Suddenly everything about me changed.
By Logan

Once there was a happy old rope. It had bright blue eyes and a warty, distorted nose. Each of his ends where pink and purple. He has a smiley, glowing face and yellow, cold looking eyes. Rope bounces around merrily and quickly. He giggles.
By Nalia

There in front of me was a furry, fluffy and soft bunny. It came out of nowhere. Its ears were swishy and silky and its nose was wet and cold. “Achoo!” went the bunny. His face was calm and adorable. Its legs were small and skinny. The bunny could hop really high.
By Jessica

Some huge, wide eyes came out of nowhere in the forest. “BOO!” I stepped back surprised. It had filthy legs, round fat hands and disgusting feet that made it bounce high.
By Ava

The meerkat leaped cautiously out of its hole with his ears pricked suspiciously and his eyes gleaming looking for predators. His fur looked silky. His tail was skinny and drooped as he walked. Frightened.
By Flynn

There was a fearless robot named Beep-Bop. He had red iron buttons on his chest to turn himself on and off. His body was made of grey glowing armour. When you looked at him he had unusual, red eyes. Beep-Bop’s head was gigantic and made him look top-heavy. He walked slowly on his tall lanky legs.
By Jessy

They looked like little, plain, white elastic undies but they were magical and adventurous. The undies was a little cheeky and was running around the room exploring every inch of our house. “How are those underpants moving?” you might ask. It did have legs but they were invisible.
By Lachlan

I was walking around the quiet streets when I saw a glimpse of a huge, dark tail from behind a bush. I walked nervously to the other side of the bush and came face to face with a shaggy head cocked to one side. I then saw its floppy, soft ears. That’s when I saw them… HUGE, SHINEY, SHARP CLAWS. I slowly backed away. He raced inquisitively towards me. Its huge imploring eyes then hit mine with a full blast of cuteness.
By Ruby

There was little girl called Maya and she was 6 years old. She was a lucky girl and she was special too. She was walking to school. On her way she found a little flower. She picked up the flower. She took it to school and gave it to her teacher. The teacher was happy. The little girl sat on the mat.
By Emily

Once there was a charming starfish whose 5 legs were big and orange. His mouth chatted a lot. He had sucker that were strong and tickled you if you touched them. Is teeth were sharp and pointy. When you looked at him his scales shuddered as he moved.
