Principal’s Report
In Term 2, our Year 3 and 5 students will be participating in National Testing (NAPLAN) during May. This is an opportunity for students to show what they know and gives our school great information about where we direct our teaching and learning efforts moving forward. If there are any families who would like to know more about these tests or would like to withdraw, please contact me before Friday 11th May 2018.
On Friday 13th April, staff will be participating in Moderation Day at Princes Street Primary School. We will be focusing on ensuring consistent judgement on student work against the Australian Curriculum and how we plan learning activities that rigorously stretch our students. Teachers will be looking at Numeracy and Writing work and I look forward to engaging with the rich discussion.
Don’t forget to read the ICAS competition information below. This is a great opportunity for your child to extend their learning in a challenging format.
I would like to remind everyone about how important it is to attend every day of school. This year to date we have 93 % attendance by our students. Missing even one day of school a week can add up to many months of lost learning time over primary school. Please contact the school if you are having trouble getting your child to school, plan family holidays to match school breaks where possible and remind your child about the fantastic things they will learn every day at school.
Parent Working Bee at Snug
Come along on Saturday 5th May between 9am and 12pm to help us move pine bark, plant shrubs and weed our outdoor learning area. We will have a light lunch of soup and rolls at the finish of the morning’s work. Come all morning or come for 20 minutes. Bring your gloves and a hat. Bring your kids, the grandparents or neighbours and see what we can achieve for our children by working together.

Kath’s Spot
As many of you know at the moment I am currently in the Uluru, Northern Territory with my son Ben, 14 years old, for the last two weeks of term. We are working with Fusion Schools in Harmony Base Camp Team alongside the local Mutijulu Community. What a great opportunity it is to be part of such a welcoming community.
As part of the work here I have been in both Yulara Primary and Mutijulu Primary School running programs with the local young people, as well as after school programs in the Indigenous Community. Talking with the local Principal I was encouraging her in the wonderful strategies she has put in place in the school, including have a reading rocket that you are encouraged to strive to climb the levels as you learn your tricky words, when something struck me. No matter which school you are in, the staff members are working towards making learning exciting for their students.
I get so excited when I hear from a staff member who is excited about creating this joy in and out of the classroom.
Here at Snug Primary we are so fortunate to have staff just like this, who are full of fantastic ideas to help your children be excited about coming to school, and who are looking forward to learning.
I know it always spurs me along when I hear encouraging words, so offering an encouraging word to those staff you see working hard in their area of expertise would be thoroughly welcomed anytime!!
As the saying goes “it takes a community to raise a child”, I count my blessings my children have Snug Community to help them be the people they are, and the people they will become.
Many Blessings

Channel United Soccer Roster and Fun Day
CHANNEL UNITED SOCCER:
The club is a Channel based club for kids that want to play soccer. Players must be turning 6yrs or older this year. We train throughout the week and most of the times 10-15 minutes after school finishes until 4-4.15pm. Our games are played on Saturday morning from 9am to 12noon and we can play anywhere from Huonville / Cygnet through to Lenah Valley. The best part of the sport is that our coaches and managers are our parents, you don't have to be Jose Mourinho. The games start May and finish in September. Our goal each weekend is to make sure each child and family has FUN.
