Principal’s Report
A warm welcome back to all our students and families after the summer break. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces on our students as they ran to meet their new teachers on day one. Our teachers have worked hard to set up the learning spaces to be inspiring environments in which to think, create, problem solve and collaborate and I thank them for their many hours of preparation.
Can I welcome Mrs Lisa Fraser, Mrs Linda Jolleys and Mrs Janelle Manshanden as new members of our staff and warmly welcome all our new students and families. We are so pleased to have you as part of our community.
The Commemorative Walk for the 1967 Bushfires was a touching community event on Tuesday and we had strong attendance from our school. Thank you to the families that were able to attend and mark this special day.
It was particularly touching for me to tour our hall with a past student, who sheltered there on that day. He recalled the efforts of the older boys in the school to put out a small fire in the clock tower block. He was surprised by his strong emotions as he recalled watching St Mary’s Church burn. He was looking out of the very same window.
Don’t forget the Regatta Day holiday this weekend. Students resume on Tuesday next week.
We will be focussing on the 1967 Bushfires at our first assembly on Friday 17th of February at 2pm. We hope to see you there.

Kath’s Spot
Welcome back to school! It is so lovely to see many excited and happy students and parents.
For those of you who are new to our school, my name is Kath Dolliver and I am the Chaplain at our school. You will often see me pottering around welcoming students to school while on bus duty, and chatting with students and families on the way in and out of school.
I am fortunate to wear a lot of different hats (not literally) so you will no doubt see or hear from me when coordinating teams of volunteers for costumes, hair and makeup for the school plays for Grades 2-6 students. Across the school I regularly catch up with students and families with any concerns or anxieties, so feel free to call the office and book in some time if you would like to chat. I also have the resources to provide food hampers to those families who are in need, so please yell out if this could be of assistance.
Each week I have the opportunity to be a part of the Launch into Learning team for birth to 4 year olds, and I network with Leah our Child Health Nurse based in the front office, to help care for each of our families.
I also have the pleasure of contributing a little spot in each newsletter, so I look forward to you reading about my little adventures of parenting.
Parenting can often be a tough gig so I encourage you all to go today, and give someone a pat on back and tell them they are doing a good job. Sometimes each of us need that extra encouragement to keep us going, and I am sure you will bring a smile to someone's face.
Blessings to you all
Kath Dolliver

New Bankers are very welcome – for every new banker, the school receives a $5.00 commission and then 5% of every deposit made thereafter. Just head to any Commonwealth Bank with some ID for yourself and your child (a drivers licence and birth certificate, for example) and ask to open a Youthsaver Account for School Banking. You’ll be given a deposit book and Dollarmites wallet on the spot and will be able to begin banking the next business day - it’s that easy!

For every deposit your child makes, they will receive a silver Dollarmite token. Once they have received 10 tokens then will then receive a gold Dollarmite token which they can redeem for an exclusive Dollarmite reward item (see below).
