Principal’s Report
It was brilliant to see so many families support the Snug Jingles evening on Sunday 11th December. Another sunny, twilight event celebrating great communities and connections. Our thanks goes to Deb Tabor for all her organisation and hard work to make the night a success. We would also like to thank all the other community members who helped in the lead up and on the night.
Our Graduation Assembly on Tuesday night celebrated the academic achievements and exemplary leadership of our Grade 6 students. Their showcase musical, digital and theatrical items left no one in doubt of their growing abilities. We wish them all the very best for their bright futures and know they have the skills to face and solve challenges to come. Can I thank all the staff members who made the ceremony and supper a wonderful celebration of excellence.
This Monday and Tuesday we have our final assemblies for the year. K-1 will present final items on Monday at 9:30am and be hosted by Grade 1A. Grade 2-6 will be on Tuesday at 9:30am and be hosted by Grade 5 leaders. We hope you can join us in celebrating the achievements of the students and acknowledging staff moving into different roles.
We will have another shorter newsletter coming out on our last day of the school year, Wednesday 21st December.

Kath’s Spot
There is something about this time of year that always just seems a little more intense than the rest of the year. As December hits, everyone gets that little more overtired, and I guess we are trying to cram lots more into the time we have. And if you are anything like me, I think I have high expectations of all the things I can fit into a limited time frame.
But is that what this time of year is all about? Ticking boxes, and running around madly? I suspect the times we spend with friends and families, we actually want to really spend that time with them... totally engaged in what they are saying, not trying to work out when we need to leave for the next thing. Am I right?
Sometimes we need to stop and look at the calendar and make sure it is filled with all the important things, not just the urgent tasks. Maybe try to fulfil tasks at the same time as doing something important. For example, the other day I needed to do shopping so I took one of the boys with me so we could have some one-on-one time. Often just chatting to and from things is a wonderful time together.
Whatever your family does this special season, I hope you are blessed with Joy, Peace, Hope and Love, and I look forward to spending more time with you all in 2017!

Class in Focus – Grade 5A Milne/Burbury
We have been very busy this term:
- Learning about finance and budgeting in Maths
- Learning about letter writing and plurals in English
- Completing independent research and presenting our information
- Mapping and creating a Travel Brochure in Geography
- And experimenting in ‘STEM’ learning area
We have also been developing our leadership skills by working with the Grade 6’s and learning how to run Daily PE. This experience has helped us to self-reflect and work on striving for excellence as we head into 2017 and become leaders at Snug Primary School.

Grade 6A – 21st Century Learning
Recently Oliver James entered the MyState Film Festival with his film 'What's your adventure?'. It is was inspired by the work of British Adventurer Alastair Humphreys, who spent 4 years cycling around the world, has rowed across the Atlantic Ocean, crossed Iceland on foot, walked across India and now promotes micro adventures.
Alastair managed to see Oliver's film and suggested that the class conduct an interview over Skype. On Wednesday the 7th December Grade 6A conducted the interview and, in Alastair’s own words, he "was amused, challenged and impressed by the standard and depth of their questions."
For more information on Alastair Humphreys you can visit his website:
