Principal’s Report
Hi Parents, Families, Caregivers and Community,
Athletics Carnival
Just a heads up our Athletic’s Carnival is on Wed, Nov 1. Start time 9.30am.
PAT Testing
Our students will have their annual PAT testing in week’s 3 and 4. This is a chance for us to track student growth in the past 12 months, identify as a school what we are doing well, and what we might need to focus on in 2024. It also provides us with some additional information to identify all students against national mean scores.
Student Survey Data – Sleep and breakfast
Our 4-6 students have just completed their annual Wellbeing survey. This is a snapshot about how they feel about being at school, at home, and their learning. A couple of things that come out of the data was an increasing number of students who did not feel they got enough sleep, and those who were coming to school without breakfast. Obviously, these two key components are crtivial to ensure students are in the right space for learning. Please support us by ensuring your children are in bed at a reasonable time, and have access to a healthy breakfast each day - then they will be ready and raring for learning!
Kind regards
Kath’s Spot
This week, our students have been working on the habit of the mind: We lift others up.
I am a long term fan of watching the show The Block. However, this year, it has been a season filled with lots of drama and uncomfortable negative behaviour. Each episode when I have seen behaviour that has made others feel left out, scrutinised, and generally not supported in anyway, I have regretted watching the episode and supporting this behaviour and the airing of such behaviour. This has encouraged me to look more at my interactions and the effects, which they have on others.
I wonder for you what is it that helps you to act in a different way. What is it that encourages you to lift others up with encouraging remarks and behaviour.
As I get together with friends and family and surround myself with work colleagues, I need to find moments that I can be a voice where I’m lifting others up. Sometimes it is easier to go with the flow and do as others so, but sometimes these are the moments when we need to stand strong like a rock and encourage good healthy behaviour.
As we continue to do life together with others, let’s try hard to work towards being a lighthouse showing positive interactions with others. What a great role model that will be for our children.
Many Blessings
